could you use a shimano XT caliper with a hayes rotor or do you have to buy a shimano rotor.

would the same thing apply to a juicy brake

and also a hope C2 brake

thanx :)

You sure can. I'm pretty sure Hayes rotors have one of the largest braking track surfaces of all the rotors. Because of that both Juicy and Shimano pads should fit neatly inside the two edges and won't run into the rotors legs or sit over the outside of the rotor.

In fact, I'd recommend running Hayes rotors in preference to Juicy Polygon rotors as I believe the Polygons tend to cause shuddering and warbling.

The only rotors to watch out for when looking at compatibility are the Juicy Polygons and some of the Shimano one's (particularly rotors from the old 4 pot XT sets) and possibly some Hopes. If they have a narrow braking track they may be a problem.

i use a polygon juicy 8" rotor on my hayes hfx-9s and they work fine.
cheaper as well and i havent noticed the shuddering or pulsing every one seems to say that they do.

It may be that the Hayes pads sit quite well on the polygon rotor. Not everyone has a problem with the Poly's but there's no way I could recommend them. Would you care to post a pic of the braking track on your rotor?

I was tempted to switch my Polygons with the Hope floating rotors on my other bike as I expect the Polys would work well with XT 4pots. I wasn't sure that the rivets on the Hope rotors would clear the Juicy's adapters though.
