Did you actually watch the game? It was a bloody disgrace, mainly from the 3rd umpire/television ref. The first 10 minutes back in the 2nd half were so blatantly against queensland it wasn't funny. You would have to be a very one eyed NSW supporter not to see that - as tu plang said even gus gould and sterlo were saying how shocking it was.

As for being cynical....oh yes its a professional sport, definitely above match fixing grumble grumble :rolleyes: . Look at the match fixing scandal the italian soccer leauge is enduring at the moment - huge. You say its under the watch of the ref's perfectionist eye, i say perfection is in the eye of the beholder and the beholder has his price. The tv ref must be in that position because he has a long running affiliation with the game and knows his rules back the front - how then can he truly make two such wrong decisions in a row in the favour of the one team? Bad night? :rolleyes: :mad:

Being a New South Welshman, it pains me to say it, but well done QLD.

That out of the way, what did every one actually think of the game ?

Don't give me the "defence was solid" stuff, that's what they get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for... to defend. If I was paying in excess of $500'000.00 for a player from either team, I'd want a brick fucking wall defence.

I am talking about the lack of imagine either team had. N.S.W had a terrible kicking game, and the QLD'ers kicking was predictable, as Gould rightly pointed out pre match.

Tony Carroll's try should have been allowed, he and Grothe Jnr [sp] were the only ones that used a bit of imagination throughout the whole game. Both feeding off the other teams mistakes.

I dont think either forward pack set up a platform for the backs to play, and I thought the game lacked the skill of Origins before it.

I am glad the Video Ref threw a bit of excitement into the game, kept me awake atleast. I would also suggest that the commentary team talked so much about the Video Ref to disguise the fact that there was little else happening on the paddock.

I am glad I wasn't a Victorian paying through the nose for a ticket to watch it.

That said, I'll get off the soap box.

I was so pissed off after the video ref. gave that try after Hodgson knocked on that i was comtemplating just giving up and resigning to the fact that it just wasn't queenslands night. Thats why i was so fuckin happy when they came back in a thriller to win :D

But aside from the refs. performances the game itself was pretty good. Both teams kicked down the throat of the others' fullbacks, and i think they both fell over the same amount of times :p

The ground was shit as, and it would have been a much better and fast flowing game if players werent losing their fotting left right and centre...just my opinion though

Amen to that brother. With Gasnier being in the number 6 jersey and no real kicking skills, this left it all up to Craig Gower being the only kicking back (besides maybe Bretty Hodgson) who is not normally well known for his impressive kicking.
And yes, i am a New-south-welshman, and again i would like to say that it was a fantastic win by Queensland.
