I realise there is a thread already on the incident on big brother, but it doesnt discuss the underlying incident and how it happend and the responsibilites of both parties.
To often, females are made to look like the innocent victim in sexual assult cases. Am i the only one in thinking that in some cases a sexual assault is not a one sided thing?

With the way the girls these days flaunt their sexuality in public on the pub/club scene, is it no wonder that incidents like this will occur?

Do females need to take some responsibility for leading on/flirting and expect guys to act gentlemanly in the face of sex?

My opinion-

Does female promiscuity/flirting make sexual assault more prevalant?

Probably

Does it mean that they deserve it?

Nope.

Just because she may have been acting like a little pop-tart (I wouldn't know, I haven't seen it) doesn't mean that she deserved to have some depraved guys nads rubbed in her face.

every situation is different and there always a very fine line that sometimes can easily be crossed.

What one person can consider flirting, another person might not. This basically happens everytime your out, on the dance floor, some chick is rubbing herself all over you all night, then you meet her boyfriend.:o

I don't think there is any doubt in that case that the guys went too far. Teabagging a housemate is not exactly the sort of line you can step over without noticing, even under the closed conditions these guys and girls are under. So whatever the provocation, those guys were seriously out of line and deserved to get kicked off.

In the wider community, girls should be able to flaunt their bodies all they like without fear of being assaulted. That's not to say that this can't cause trouble with misguided passes, touch-ups and other unwanted attention, but most girls can easily deal with this sort of thing. It's when the guy forces his attentions on a girl that flirting or playing around becomes sexual assault. Even if the girl is initally receptive to flirting, they reserve the right to say no at any point.

Your right - it probably happens less in Saudi Arabia where women are completely covered.

Do females need to take some responsibility for leading on/flirting and expect guys to act gentlemanly in the face of sex?

That's kind of like saying to a bloke who's had his Ferrari stolen - "It's your fault 'cause that's one nice looking car".

I admit when I was a single man dick-teasers used to piss me off but it is never an excuse for sexual assault of any kind.

Maybe it just comes back to having some decent moral values. Flirting or not, they are immature idiots with no morals.

There is no way we're going to have a discussion about this on this website. Go look up consent in the dictionary and you'll find it has nothing to do with provocation.
