Right oh, I've recently broken the headphone jack on my laptop, so I cant plug anything into it. (headphones, speakers)
I don't believe its worth getting it fixed, as I wont be using this laptop for much longer, but was wondering what my options are as far as something that plugs into USB or PCMCIA, to which i can plug headphones/speakers into?
Its a Toshiba satelite 1410, so USB 1 etc.
Sorry if I've been brief, or missed something obvious.

Thanks,
Andrew.

You should be able to find a converter cable somewhere to change the headphone/speaker jack into a USB one.

Now I'm not 100% sure on that, so don't blame me if you get weird looks when asking for one, but I'm pretty sure I've seen one around before.

Sorry couldn't be more help - good luck with it though.

Type it into ebay. (usb headphone/audio jack)
I've just been loking for 5.1 speakers/soundcard and these things are popping up all over the place (usb audio jacks) i think they're about $14 posted from hong kong... they don't look the best of quality, but if you don't see yourself using the computer for very long what have you got to lose?

They're just like a usb stick with 2 jacks (i think they have 2, maybe more...) one for speakers/headphones, and one for mic.

You should be able to find both of those options. The PCMCIA optioon will typically be a soundcard on a card. A good spot to look may be Apple stores. Quite a few Macs used to send sound out the USB ports and the PCMCIA soundcard option is a common upgrade for powerbook owners.

My housemate was bidding on USB headphones on eBay just the other day, so they exist. About $40 I recall, but I can't attest to their quality.

dick smith electronics sell a usb sound card that just plugs in the usb port it $20
or you could get usb head phones or if you want to be tricky get a blue tooth adaptor (if your laptop doesnt have it) and get bluetooth headphones ;)

i have a creative audigy2 notebook soundcard, which is awesome. if you're getting another laptop i suggest you get one of these babies. the usb one is much slower, uses way more cpu and isn't as current. check it out at www.creativelabs.com.
