View Full Version : Bad Karma or Good Luck
I just purchased a CD (Legend of the Wu-Tang) from a vendor at Paddy's Markets. The CD was $10, I gave him a twen-twen-twenty, he gave me $25 change.
WWJD, or more relevent, what would you do? Keep the cash or give it back?
buy 2 more cd's ?
Not from the same bloke because:
a) He would have realised he gave me too much change
b) the only other good cd there was Cyprus Hill, which I already have, the rest were 'Thug Love: Best of urban r'n'b' type comps.

Being at Paddy's is probably pirated anyway, so keep the cash, and bugger the vendor.

If he gave you $25 change wouldn't it mean that you gave him $35 in theory. If you only gave him one note what other possibilities could he have thought of. Perhaps he thought it was a $50 and decided to short change you... the scammer might have got scammed!

I would have given it back, i always check my change and if its wrong either way i make sure its right. The other day the coffee girl gave me $5 too much and i gave it back.
I'm not sure, but wouldn't this kind of be classified as stealing? As in taking something thats not rightfully yours, even if the person did make a mistake giving it to you? Kind of a grey area.

Not that im saying your a theif RCOH :o
Just asking the question how its veiwed by the law. For example the guy that worked for maquaire bank and found all that money, tried to keep it and ended up in jail.

If you feel the need to ask the question, you already know the answer. If you kept the money, then perhaps you should give it back to him at a later date. I believe Karma is a self image thing. If you think of yourself a certain way, others will take your lead. That’s why it is so easy to pick a rat bag.
But I’m sure you wont be going to hell for this, so not a big issue.

I always do a quick check either way when I receive the money and give it back with if I get too much. But if realize a mistake has been made looking at my wallet later (and the amount was not too much) then I would shrug my shoulders and forget about it.
If you feel the need to ask the question, you already know the answer..
I asked what YOU (collective, not you personally Tony G) would do. I already did what I did.
As for going to hell, well, if there is a hell, i'm fucked as it is.
And the time of your post shows you're halfway there ;)
As for going to hell, well, if there is a hell, i'm fucked as it is.
Atleast you'll be able to go to hell with $20 in your pocket, and a CD.
If your worried about karma, then put the $20 into a 'thankyou tin' if you can't be arsed going back to the man. ;)

Easy big fella,
I'm not the slightest bit religious so don’t take the hell thing literally. I was just saying it wasn’t like you have robbed a bank (is that a better analogy) so I didn’t think it was a big deal.
As for your collective comments, I apologise if misunderstood the reason behind your question. It isn’t always easy to pick up the sentiment of a question on the nett.

I didn't mean to jump down your throat, Tony G, I just didn't want you to think I was directing anything I said at you personally, rather the 'farkin collective' as a whole.
I am also not religious, which is why if I am wrong come the day I die, I am screwed :(
I agree it is not easy to convey tone across the 'net, sorry for any offence/misunderstanding.

No harm done.
it is quiet a show of faith, not to have faith. We have the most to lose!
And the most fun to be had ;)

Of course you know that you can still get a ticket into heaven at the very last minute...
That's one of the best things about Christianity, as soon as you repent you are as 'good' as the rest of them!! :p

I personally would go back and fix the problem. Not for karma, or for luck, but simply for the fact I would be a worse person by not going back and instead trying to justify keeping something that wasn't mine.

You've brought more to this supposed deity's little rock than alot of prople. If it does come to that, don't worry mate, you won't be alone ;). Imagine it. The Ramones, Bad Religion, The dead kennedy's, on the bill, every night. You only realise it's hell when you get there and find out that you have to sit through the support act first. And it's Britney.

Maybe it's good karma from a previous good deed.
(I'm not too sure with RCOH though, all this talk of no religion, this "As for going to hell, well, if there is a hell, i'm fucked as it is" and owning me one too many times etc.)
Maybe it's good karma from a previous good deed.
Now thats the lords of karma fucking with you....:p
Use the cash to buy the shopkeeper a calculator so he dosent make the mistake again:)

AGES ago at a supermarket I bought something small, I can't remember what but paid with it with a Twenty and got a Fifty in change!
WOOHOO! I was broke so the money was a welcome relief that week because I got to eat and catch buses.
But 18 months ago I had to take a second job to get some $$$, and I ended up working nightfill in the same supermarket. The extra cash did come in handy, but it was a miserable job working for miserable people.
Karma always prevails.

having done some work through the drive thru at maccas...i can assure you when you realise that you've over changed someone, they're long gone, and in most cases will not correct you on your mistake.
think of it this way, that poor guys name is probably logged onto the register, and the managers will count that register once his shift is over. and they'll find out his register is short, and he can be in the possible possition of being disciplined/fired. its not a great experience...
but then again someone elses name could be logged into the register and that makes it all fine :p (i know from experience  )
