G'day.
Having a bit of a problem round the house at the moment. I need to cover an area 20ft long and 14ft wide, (6.5m by 5m for you metric types), that is 5ft off the ground, in a rectangle shape. Now i need this cover to prevent water from entering and yet still be able to be moved out of the way easily (with a maximum of like 15min with 1 person). Can anyone give me some sensible suggestions as i have had lots of ideas but dont have the time nor money to stuff round with ideas that dont work.
Cheers
P.s i only want to spend about $100 on a solution as i'm am farkin broke but its really important to get it done soon.

Zinc sheeting, pine stud frame = cheap, but not too sure if it will be within your budget (it's been a few years since I checked the price of sheet metal, prolly tripled since then)
You'll prolly wanna split it in two bits to make it easy for one person to move.

Permanent or temporary. If temporary a large tarp should do the job, you can pick them up reasonably cheaply. Depends on quality though.
you can pick up a tarp that size for around 70 - 80 bucks.
Very temp solution though. But for 100 bucks ?
Better solution, look in trading post / paper for one of those retractable awnings. 2nd hand building materials section. Or search the internet for houses being demolited. More than 100, but a better solution and without the poles or guy ropes.
I know 'structureflex' used to do them.

What about builders salvage yards or tip recycling depots.
You could probably pick up some old laserlite sheets pretty cheap.
Only trouble is it'd be reasonably heavy in a 5m span, dunno about 1 person moving it.

Yeah that was what we did originally. We had two uprights halfway along the area and had a rope tied tight across the two and then a tarp was pulled down over this to allow rain to drain off. However, one windy night a gust got under the tarp and ripped all the eyelets out. While the tarp was cheap ($50), i just dont want it to happen again. Along it just cant be pulled tight over it flat as the weight of gathering rain puts too much stress on the eyelets.
As for the other ideas, i have a lot of old laserlite lying round but i am unsure of how to span this across effectively as the laserlite comes in sheets that are approx. 3ft wide and 8-10ft long and this doesnt span the required area.
Cheers for the ideas though, very much appreciated, keep them coming:)
