View Full Version : Best Dressed Category at Races?

At races recently I've noticed everything from people wearing tweed jackets, suits, green lycra body outfits to helmets with masks stuck on them etc. and it has got me thinking. People are already going to a little bit of trouble to dress up for the occasion, maybe we could work with this?

What would everyone think of a Best Dressed category at races? I'm thinking everything from dinner suits/tuxedos to monkey/superman suits, pirate get up, leotards etc. I think it would add a really nice humourous touch to races and prizes could be awarded to the best dressed on race day. What do you think of the idea?

I don't know. There is all ready 18 categories, that's 54 prizes clubs already have to come up with, 60 if top 5 for elite and u19.

Saying that I'd be happy to throw a token prize towards a best dressed thingie so long as it doesn't compremise safety.

I think the prize may not have to be anything substantial, maybe even a booby prize of sorts or something such (race entry fee refunded, free sausage or drink from teh caterers, meal voucher from local restaurant, 10% of costume hire at the local fancy dress, etc.,) I don't think it needs to be anything substantial as it's all for a laugh anyway really.

I thought of the same idea. It would put a good humerous spin on proceedings and produce another talking point.
Maybe the theme could be something to do with the local landmarks or identities? In our case, someone could dress up as a banana......In Canberra you could dress up as a politician or a firecracker.....or a porn star (Canberra does lack good looking people  ). In Lithgow, you could dress up as the infamous panther that has been spotted doing laps around the bush.......In Ourimbah you could dress up as Squidly (a clown suit would have a similar effect ;)).

That's it... YOU'RE paying for the filming now. I aint getting footage of assclowns for a promo vid. If we wanted to look like asses, why don't we dress up in fluro lycra? Hell, we might even attract large corporate sponsors like in Europe.

I don't understand the problem I didn't say it was going to be compulsary. It is just a little bit of fun. And what is wrong with guys riding Orange dressing up how they want. A little bit of pride goes a long way. And fluro Lycra if you got it wear it (He He Squid)

yeh then your just rewarding the people that have the money, and can afford to buy the full race kits...its not that expensive to hire a funny costume(unless you tell them that yur planning on racing in it) and the reward goes to probably the most outgoing person of the day or the one who has the best sense of humour.......someone that deserves it

hahahaha, um i think phalophalot is being a bit sarcastic here, i happen to know he wears a fair bit of lycra in his spare time and i think he was just cut that he forgot to bring his down to canberra with him:p hahahah, but seriously i think costumes and stuff would be a bit of fun but i'd rather be the one pointing and laughing than the one being laught at, so if your feeling brave, i say go for it!
