Hey guys,

I am pretty sure that I am going to Thredbo, AGAIN! in the summer with my family for a holiday! yea ha!!!!

Im so siked about it.

But I do have a question to ask:confused:

Would it be worth bringing my Hard tail to do the Cannonball run and ride around the village and the 4x track (wouldn't do the 4x track that much though).

My bike is a 05 Norco sasquatch frame with Marzocchi 66rc's (150 mm) with an 06 giant stp Zero spec with 8" juicy 5 brakes.

Would it handle the rough stuff, of is it worth dishing out for hiring one of those iron horse hire bikes and saving my pride and joy from all of those rocks?

Don't worry about telling me about the rims (sun Rhyno lite) I know that they are pretty weak for DH but I dont weigh that much (50kg's).

Do you think that I may as well run them until I break them because there not worth selling or are they?

Any opinions on this topic would be extremly helpful :)

Cheers.

Yeah mate no worries. You can hire a good duallie if you find your arms / hands can't handle it after a couple of days.

I used to do the tours up there and at times when my dually was out of action I did approx 8 runs a day for several days / weeks on my hardtail with 125mm psylos and still found it good fun.

hire one of their ironhorse's...still fun to muck around on the street and 4X track and you can thrash it on the DH course. might have to fork out for it in the first place. but it'l save having to get new rims after and maybe even during your holidays.

Why hire when you have that bike.
Sassy's hold up sweet for any DH you can throw at it, and yours has a way better specl ist than my previouse stock sassy. It will hold up sweet, go have fun

I personally cant see why you wouldnt be able to ride thredas on your hard tail... The only thing that will hurt is your back and arms from arm pump but you will get the arm pump on a dualy too.... Your bike will be fine the juicys will aid with the arm pump as well

its not worth buying new wheels just ride yours till they are thrashed then get new ones...

I couldn't believe some of the rubbish bikes that were coming down that run, your sassy will love it. I think a nice dually would make it better, but it's definitely do able, and would be heaps of fun!

Yeh from my personal opinion alot of people told me the track was not good for hardtails..

But the only reason they say that is that its long and a bit bumpy.. no massive hucks or anything.

And by the sounds of it your bike seems pretty speced for dh anyway.. As pyley said pick you lines..

Cheers Brad

Yea, cheers guys

your words are inspiring and now give me alot of confidence, i want to do the run right now in the snow!

By the way i think i am going after christmas, so i might be able to get a bolt on rear hub and a better set of rims!

thanks for the advice:)
