Is it a freeride bike or a downhill bike? And how does it differ to the very similar Vp-free, different geometry or something. Looks great anyways.

as drew said, FRO=For Racing Only... something like the pedalability of the Uzzi, geo of the M3 and light weight...

apparently they also have a very limited warranty ( 1yr??) that could be wrong though.

Yeah i'd have to wonder, being so light, even though the materials that are used to build it are somewhat equally strong as lightweight, just how durable it would be.

How about ben you spell intense properly in the title.

my opinions, a nice light weight dh race bike frame, but seing as it new to the market, i think that i will wait and follow reviews etc to see how they last.

It looks like the frame suffers the same problem as the vp free, in being the seat tube angle is to horizontal to be a full fledged race machine . In saying that, Intense bikes are excellent and the vpp design works great . I would check out the geo and compair it to other dh sleds before droping a load of coin on one ! Oh and please dont bag the shit out of me . I love vpp

I've been talking to intense about them. They say great race bike but not a freeride bike. Will do normal race hits but don't be Bender on one.

Saw a few in Whistler last month. One of the guides in the bike park had one. He loved it but he had it set up with big rims tyres etc. Apparently they are hot in the states now so any issues should come out over the next six months or so.

They are hard to get ie back order so if you want one allow some time.

These are my favourite types of posts on Farkin...nearly made the one year anniversary before being dug up - criticised someone for spelling and then spells a word wrong themselves...it's like "look at me - i'm a dumbass"

Going by your signature mate maybe it should be primo_STP

Geometry of the Socom is different to a VP-free, it's slacker and lower, so works better as a DH bike. That said, I've been riding mine everywhere. I built it up with a Totem, climbing is easier as it doesn't have an upper crown hitting my knees when out of the seat. With an LG-1,a 34 tooth front chainring, and an 11-34 cassette I can pretty much get up anything. Got a Maverick post as well, so no messing with a seat post QR, just tap the lever and go. No need to organise shuttles, just grab my helmet, pads, and camelback, and hop on the bike. It's getting a lot more use than I ever got out of my Sunday. The frame has the standard two year warranty, but is definitely not a huck frame like a Banshee or similar.

Haha, very true. Anyway back on-topic, the bike looks great an all but I find it hard to really see it's practically application. A lightweight freeride frame, some how ends up as a DH race bike? If you want a race bike you may as well buy the M3. The only thing I could really see it excelling at is really technical DH courses.

All that said I reckon it looks great and it's hard to judge unless you can actually ride one.
