Hey guys, only just stumbled accross farkin recently.

My Caldera got swiped from toorak rd (melbourne) a couple of months ago. Dice pedals; non-standard rear rim (mavic disk, might still hav more details somewhere); red n black bottle cages. I'll try to dig up the serial #, etc.

Bought a 2nd hand norco fireball from a guy in weribee after it didn't sell in an eBay auction. I'd like to check that it's not hot, and the cops apparently can't help unless you know when the thing's been nicked!!! (not much use if you're just trying to check it's NOT stolen!) Post the serial number if yours has gone AWOL and I'll do a check.

Anybody know about a permanent stolen bike register, cataloguing stuff like serial number, parts, distinctive features, date nicked, etc., which people could use to check they weren't buying a stolen one? Or is the best idea to just spread the word about this lost/found/stolen forum?

cheers guys

Well i'm not sure its a good idea to post bike serial numbers on a publically accessable forum as that would allow them to be obtained by anyone then. If you do see a surprisingly cheap bike for sale and want to check its not 'hot' i guess the best thing to do is just do a search in the lost/stolen forum (and possibly the "post your ride" forum) for the type of bike and see what turns up, and PM anyone with a similar bike. Possibly try other forums too.
