I would've thought it's kind of self explanatory, but my definition for Downhill racing would be: The person who can manoeuver their bike down the given terrain in the shortest time possable.

So how does free riding differ from downhilling? Excuse my ignorance but I am trying to figure it all out as well....:confused:

He might just be looking for how do you feel about DH, what do you like about it and what it is too you personally.;)

For me its fun, a release and an adrenalin rush sport that I can meet people from all over the world with:D

free riding is more what you want to do not a set course and just you are FREE to do what you want.

Downhils is a time trial event where there is a start and a stop with no loop. fastes time to get to the bottom wins.

Downhill = a marked out track with drops, jumps, rock gardens, steep chuts etc. that you have timed runs down. He with the fastest time wins.

Free riding = cruising any given space (urban or bushland) looking for stuff to ride, jump off, etc.

To me free riding is just looking for stuff to hit up. I say this because you are free to ride whatever you want, not having to stick to a marked out track. I believe the term originated in snow boarding for off pist style boarding, while looking for cool stuff to hit up.

silly comment this kids just trying to find some stuff out about the sport he loves. whats to say that xc isnt dh cause some times you go dh.

freeride is all downhill
