Ive got a question if anybody could help me? At what point / stage would a rider / racer be expected to leave sport class and go into elite/expert?

*Thread Steal* At what point would a rider move from U15's to U17's *Thread Steal*
you shouldnt be in under 15's then if you turn 15 this year then you should be in under 17's and same with 17's the year you turn 17 is when you should be in uner 19's

How do your times compare with expert class in your last few races??
I'd say if your times put you mid pack in expert, time to go up.

If your fast enough to be lower mid pack in the grade above then its time to go i would say.
TA thanx for info guys. Reason for asking was that i competed in the king of ballarat event on the weekend in sport and i noticed that the top 2 guys in sport would have placed 7th & 9th in elite out of 26. Im not sooking but more curious about eligability for sport class. The same two guys competed in the first rnd of this series with pretty much same results. Thanx for answering my Qs.

Yep, its not a rule as such, but the word sandbagger comes to mind...
However, i think with the king series, because they placed well this eries, next series they will be pushed up - i think...

Sport should be for the occasional rider or novice. That's what it should be for.
Regular riders should step up. What's the point of winning sport, I'd rather come last in elite or expert.
Age categories are based on you're age as of 31 December. So if you turn 15 before then you should be racing u17

Ok, i'm the guy that got second and aussie got first. Aussie is in yr 10 i'm in yr 11, and we both go to the same school. I am stepping up after the series to elite after seeing our times and with how we would have faired. The reason i havnt stepped up before hand is that i have always sucked with racing till just recently with getting normally a 8th in sport. It was also aussies 2nd race with his first being the last round of king of ballarat where he got 17th! And me at the last race i dislocated my shoulder and wasnt able to even start the race! Just notifing you about why where in sport and not elite, i'm not telling you off.
Cheers Patto
sport should only be for the first 1-3 races. once in expert, if your fastest race time qualifies for elite, even if your the last qualifyer, no matter what position, you should definetly step up to elite.
Hay patto no worrys. like i said wasnt sooking but was interested if there was any set rules as to when you shld move up. Not taking anything away from you. You did a top job! Well as your age goes you obviously have a fair amount of talent. Good luck next Rnd and when you go up to elite.
