tip: find the biggest mountain near you.....ride its firetrails a few times and keep your eyes out for little tracks starting off the firetrail.... and if theres none try following some animal trails... some of them are pretty sketchy..lol it will be technical to say the least :P

Get yourself a full face helmet. Much cheaper than dental work, and you need it if you are going to enter a race.

Just start out small - by that i mean dont instantly try to go out harder than Cedric Gracia or go bigger than bender but keep pushing your limits getting more comfortable. In the way of Gear you shouldn't need much more than a full face helmet and some gloves. Just practice down some firetrails getting a nerve for speed and keep working on your bike skills. Strength and fitness come into DH alot, as well as a lot of other aspects of mountain biking so make sure you do all round practice and not just stick to one thing. Main thing is just get out there and have some fun

yeh and if there is no trails dont go building your own ask your council or the rangers and they may let you. but other wise find walking tracks where it says no motorbikes and no horses but make sure it doesnt say no pushies.

1 key thing on riding dont stay rigid on your bike dont let the bike do all the work you got to stay relaxed flow with the trails keep you legs bent your arms relaxed.

2 if you dont think you can hit some thing at first try some smaller things and get smoother and smoother untill you think you can hit it.

3 it also pays to stop have a look at a few sections of the course and see what others are doing so you can see which lines are smoothest and which are faster.

happy riding

extreeeeeeemly good advice there. another little trick is pick a section of a track/fire road/highway, like maybe 100m or so. and get some buddies.. and just time yourselves. adds that little competitive edge to it making you think about line, speed etc.

again, stay relaxed, and remember YOU are riding the bike, don't let the bike do all the riding.

yeah the manik will hold up well. you will probally buckle the back rim. You will get heaps better on a hardtail then a dually
