View Full Version : V10 and Santa Cruz Bullit ..BOTH Found..
Sometime today on Saturday 12/08/06 my V10 and Bullit were taken from our home at Cedar Creek.(Qld mtb park).
The v10 was a large anodised black 05 model, mavic 321 rims, 05 black shiver forks,5th element rear shock, E13 bashy, avid disc brakes, Easton stem etc.
The bullit was trans blue, 321 rims, marzocchi 66rc front, 5th element rear shock, hope disc brakes, Black Spire dual chain device. The bullit's frame is easy to I.D as it has two large dents on the top tube near the stem where old triple clamps tank slapped it.
***I have extra info.........my neighbor said the person was here on Saturday 12/08/06 at about 12ish and they think on their own. So if you know anyone who was near beenleigh or passing the area looking to ride with you or someone else but had no luck, i'd say they took a punt and come here to hook up with whoever was riding here, found no one so helped themselves. PM any ideas, i wont go door knocking but it helps me put 1 and 1 together.
***Any info on the riders that left tambo and would have driven past here on sat between 11:00 and 1:00 might help, its still thought they were on their own. (I can't say they're related but have some info that if I can get a constant, lets say "certain object", can start putting some things together).

I've got the bogan area of Logan covered, where you might expect it to turn up.
Thanks guys.
The bikes are more than likely gone with the wind unless the guy has a change of mind. Unfortunatly I know its a rider who has been here before but I dont want to let on with too much yet.
The hard part is knowing that its someone who I let ride here, that was here again on sat to see if they could have a ride but found no one so did the deed, and if I were here would have shook their hand and said have a good ride mate and take care.
Its hard to stay commited to spending our money trying to get a better property where we wanted to get a bigger and better place happening where we would never get even less than half the money spent back, our return was seeing (sounds corny) happy riders.
Anyway thats my sob, I suppose they will be first in line if the next place gets going.:(

That's the cold hard truth right there mate... I'm shocked at this event. I try to have trust in everybody, try to hold on to the thought that most humans are sincere and honest, but shit like this makes it bloody hard. And to fuck you around!!!!!! You are the greatest hope DH MTB in SE QLD has at the moment, people should be polishing your bikes for you, not flogging em..... makes me soooo angry.
If you have any photos of the bikes maybe you could get them into bike shops around the place? I could print out and drop some into a couple of the stores down here on the coast.
Don't think thieves are too smart necessarily either, my brother in law had his Norco Atomik stolen from Currumbin, about 6-8 weeks later he was going in to the Pines shopping centre (about 1.5k's from where it was stolen), and there it was in the bike racks, all the scumbag had done was painted the frame. He called the cops and waited for the guy to come back... snapo, bike back!!

yeah mate, you've done so much for Brissie riders. If the c*nt who'd done this shows his head, I'll help with a shotgun and a bag of lime, just let me know.

LOL, thats going a bit far. I may be throwing in all that I can to get a multi purpose venue going but I'm no different to a grommet who just scrapes enough money together to support the next race event, but thanks...
Good news on the inlaws bike, but like you said the hardest pill isn't the loss of the item but the loss of faith in people. Funny thing is that these people most likely read these posts and still justify why they do it.
And Toodles, don't ever turn up at my place in a hockey mask after dark....i'd pee my pants.

Hey man, real sorry to hear about your bikes, and to happen to such a great bloke too!
It happens a dair bit down here too (Tassie), pain in the @$$ that people do it and even worse get away with it, Good luck at getting them back, its a long shot but could happen.
An update just for the guy with my bikes.
We cleaned our front windows the day before you come and thanks to you puting your head up to the sliding glass door and using your hand to shield the sun to look in, you left a good hand print (and eyebrow, lol). The police keep this forever (unless I get them back and the case is closed, bigger lol) but at least if you ever get done in the future for something else, you cant say it was a spur-of-the-moment thing as they will know that you had slolen before.
And to those who have PM'ed info a big thanks.

hi ill keep my eyes open around albany creek and asply
sorry to here bout it
good luck finding it
Shit that sucks hard i'll keep an Eye out up here in Toowoomba for you and pictures of what it looks like?
My Santa Cruz Bullit was spotted by a nice fella who contacted me that a bike looked suspect with heaps of weird changes being sold privately. Its now a non-Santa Cruz light green and with a silver sprayed rear (a good job but bad colours). Forks had cheap marzocchi shop bought stickers on them and the serial number was changed to the point that it was funny.
The police have the bike and the guy said he bought it from the markets, lol. He even buffed the brand name 'salsa' off the seat post clamp. Lots of changes to a bike you bought "legitimately" to just resell.
The insurance company get to keep the bike as they have already payed up but I'd rather see people caught than the bikes, thanks Suncorp :) .
Just a v10 to look for now, thanks to all who have keep an eye out and thanks again to the Bullits spotter ;) .

sic!
thats good news aye.
hope all goes well.
ill be on the prowle for a v10.
pimpilious :P
V10 was picked up by the logan CIB yesterday at a skate park, the kid said it was a mates... "steve smith", then when questioned further said he bought it off a mate for $1000 then when asked where he got $1000 from he then said he paid $100, lol.
Benjee PMed me saying that he had seen a kid on a V10 that looked like mine then by coincidence the police picked it up the next day when they where driving around saw a kid on what they thought wasn't a Christmas present.
Anyway thats both recovered thanks to people looking out and the Police doing a good job spotting as well, too bad the insurance Co get to keep them but I suppose getting paid out and getting them back would be a big ask.
Thanks All:D :D

CIB - Central Investigation Bureau...'i think'. The Police passed it on to them after the first bike was found and the guy who hat it questioned on the bike he had and where the V10 might have been.
But yes it was found at the woodridge skate park, who would have known...lol.

Thats great news Shane. I find it amazing that the police actually knew a V10 to be a bike worth money.

the same thing we use bikes for, riding to the shops, down stairs out the front of the office...general posing:cool:
i guess they'd auction them off?

They sell them to recoup some of the cash either by auction or to a reseller like Cash Convertors. I do get an option to buy back which I'm looking into.

Woodo skate park hey. Good to see the reputation is still strong. I used to skate there once (15 years ago **gulp**). I'd wear an old pair of thrashed out skate shoes, just in case.
Good news Dono!
