Hi All,
soon me and some mates are going to try to make an mtb movie.
But since i have no experience in this field, i need some hints or pointers on what to do eg. ride along next to the rider and film or what?

any help would be appreciated,
thanks,
jarrad7

Its the belief that the virtual pivot on your bike does not exist because of evolution but rather an intelligent design :p

Having filmed many a motorsport event, my only tip would be combine stationary footage from the side of the track with on bike footage via use of a cheap minicam setup. If you only have the single camera try and shoot multiple corners throughout the days filming so you can later link up the footage into one run.

in order to get lots of decent footage, your mate is probably going to have to do the same run maybe 20 times before (with you in different places) youve got enough. so dont go to trails that involve a 1hr climb, or have super technical stuff that he will try and fluke.

try to get a helmet cam set up (jaycar sell colour bullet cams and gear for around $250) and attach it to different places on the bike/rider. downtube, fork, helmet, handlebars are all good places.

try different angles too. prone, standing, in a tree, over head, etc.

also change the scenery around to break it up a bit. get some trail, park, race style going. then link it up with some good music and tada.

of course it will all come down to editing. get a copy of Adobe Premiere or iMovie/Final Cut (if you have a mac). windows movie maker will flop after about 10 minutes of footage.
