I know DT is due on monday... the hour is upon us! Who's doing what? Lets see some pictures boys and girls.
I made this honeycomb multi-purpose seating/table/shelving solution thing. Cost an absolute bucket. Doing the evaluation for the folio as we speak.

looks great. are there many colour options available (hypothetically of course)?
one thing to mention in the folio will be that bulk manufacture will lead to lower cost for customers, therefore creating a sucessful product. the sell more units at a lower price model (ikea) vs sell fewer units at a higher price model (freedom).
good luck with your assessment.

For my D&T major project i made some guitar cases out of mountain ash. I've finished 2 cases (the amount i planned to finish) and they are part of a 3 stage project. Stage one was the MDP, stage 2 is to make some cases for my acoustic guitar and classical guitar and stage 3 was to build a cabinet for them to go into.
The whole project is to have guitar cases, which slide into a cabinet and become to drawers as such. The cases can be locked in the cabinet and wheeled around for transportation of up to 5 guitars.
Good points:
* Made of Mountain Ash, strong and looks good (came up well with a few coats of danish oil).
* All cases contain no nails or screws, the design holds itself together. Where it needed increased strength, dowel has been used to join the timber.
* Guitars don't move about in the case.
* Nice big handle to spread weight over a large part of the hand.
* Dovetails add strength and prevent the case from pulling apart, length ways. The dovetails pull the long sides in, when the weight is acting to bow them outwards.
Problems/Bad points:
* Mountain Ash makes it extremely heavy to carry, with a guitar inside each case weighs just over 10 kg. A lot of weight to be carrying around.
* Lid and body aren't exactly square, meaning the lid goes over the body on one end and leaves a gap at the other.
* Cost blew out once all the little things had to be bought. Hinges, catches, support arms for the lids, handles, inner foam construction and velvet material, etc.
Some advice to anyone doing it for next year. Don't leave it to the last minute. As soon as you get your project start it. Choose a design and stick with it. Evaluation is not just about the good points of the project, say what went wrong and what you could do in the future to fix it. Personally, the only reason I chose D&T was that i thought it would be similar to tech drawing and woodwork, if that's what anyone else is thinking, just choose construction. The actual finished project is worth crap all of your final mark, it's your folio that counts.
Anyway here's some pics.

Nice work boys. I especially love Tomas's.
Hmm, far sight better than my mates projects. Poor bastards have been slaving away over last few days and aren't even half way to completion.
If you guys need any folio help give me a PM. I got 99.5 for my major work last year. I like the look and colour of your project tomas. Is their any issue with weight in that middle cabinet though? It looks like if you put something heavy in there it could collapse the cabinet.

that would depend on what weight was put in the two outer cabinets(yellow and red) and how they were all joined to each other i would think(are they even joined? or just sitting on top?)

Nah about 80 metres, of 90x45 pine. all glued together... into a basic block shape, than carved away in to the current shape.
BTW tomas i love your 'storage thingy', looks wicked, what is it all made out of.. and pics of these cnc'd jobies?

oops. really, i handed my project in at lunch time. Oh well, our teacher never taught us anything in D&T, a total of 2 A4 pages in 2 years, is all i've written in class.
There were some alright jobs and some dodgy jobs in my class. We had
- a magazine, with no articles in it
- a bed head, which didn't go to plan
- a damn decent metal work bench, strong enough to carry an engine and still be wheeled around
- my guitar cases (see previous post)
- a few houses with some awesome architectural models
- a landscape design and model for a wheelchair accessible garden
- tv cabinet/entertainment unit
- science video/animation on the structure of the atom
- a new don't drink and drive tv ad, with some funny as footage from a few parties. Had a serious message though, complete with an old bomb wrapped around a tree, very effective, dunno about my mates folio though.
- an awesome model car display cabinet, complete with turn table for the model car.

My teachers (all the DT teachers chipped in to help year12 at some stage) were amazing this year. Mkaes all the difference eh.
This just in: I was informed that i was shortlisted for the Powerhouse exhibition, DesignTech.
Pretty stoked.

Well done mate, i don't think anyone from our class will get into that, some good jobs, but nothing really innovative. A few years ago we had a clay-stop animation, like wallace and gromit that made DesignTech.
You may even get a job out of an exhibition like this, if you want to get into design etc, never know who will be there.
Anyway thank god it's over. No more assessment tasks for me this year.
