Here is my dilema that hopefully some kind person can help me with. Somehow my flash player program is gone and I cannot get it back all the usual ways. Before you abuse me I have tried the adobe site, the shockwave site and the links everytime for when I need it and when I click download the page just refreshes and the little download box never comes. I have used google to find it but everytime its an official flash player site and the same problem occurs. My download box comes up all the time for other file downloads, anyone know a sneaky way I can get flash???

How big's the filesize of flash?

Get someone to send it to you through MSN?

I've had (And am still having!) A similar, but different problem, so I'll go off your topic a little bit.
I've downloaded the flash player, shockwave player, quicktime plugin, and countless other things. Yet I am still unable to view video's on the net, and can't access some websites or view some pictures.
It's a joke, I've done everything the computer asks me, and i still can't resolve the problem.
Is the next step to reformat and start again?

Cant you just download the offline installation file?

http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe

if that link doesn't work go to http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/WEB-Design/Flash/Macromedia-Flash-Player.shtml and then click the download button.

Downloading flash player or shockwave won't do anything if your trying to watch videos. Chances are you don't have the right codec to view what your trying to watch. The most common/popular codecs you would need to install are the latest Windows Media ones, which you can get by upgraded to the latest version of Windows Media Player, Xvid, and DivX. Install those and the videos should work fine.

As for the problem with images and websites, if thats connected to the video problem as well, maybe try using another browser like firefox. If it works in that then you know something on your computer is buggered, then maybe it would be time to reformat.

It's a problem with both IE and Firefox.
I'll update my divx, and have a look for the xvid update.
The computer that is having the problems is a pretty old and crappy one. I can't update the media player because this machine is running windows 98, and the new media players are made specifically for Windows XP (I really hate it how programs are made to only run on XP now! I want to put Photoshop cs/cs2 and the latest adobe premier on a computer running windows 2000, but they're only made for XP!!) (my computer had 2000, but even 2000 has more bugs and problems than the fully updated 98. [issues with games/programs performing 'illegal operations', burning cd's, and various other things] and this computer is incapable of runing wmp anyways, because it has an internal error... (completely unfixable problem, seriously. This machine has been reformatted more than once, and i've tried everything to get media player going) I just settled for winamp which seems to be a lot better anyway.

Oh, now i've run into another problem.
The latest divx player doesn't support windows 98.! Dammit.
I need backwards compatibility...

Try installing some DVD player software, they sometimes have the necessary codecs.

Uninstall all the old crap first before trying to install new versions over the top of them.

Off topic//
windows 98.!
There's your problem. You're using a OS which is 8 years old, and was a shitter to begin with.
Perhaps 'Media Player Classic' will work better for you? It's on Sourceforge and here...

Media Player classic is horrible, and has SFA file support.
I was thinking of updating this computer to XP soon, but i'll need to get onto a new hard-drive to copy all my stuff to.
Windows 98 is actually a very good OS, I rarely have system errors, or any of the shit that XP and 2000 do to me, I just don't get support from anyone anymore, not even Microsoft.
