Farkin.net is now filtered at the ABC, so no access for me unless I want to explain my actions at the end of each month. :(

Yes, I am devastated. If you knew how much time I spent on here when it was allowed, you would be too. Luckily RM & HCOR are still safe.

On the plus side, my statistics at work have risen considerably in the past fortnight.

From now on my posts will be quality, not quantity. Like this one. ;)

Bummer dude, we'll look out for you in depth replies to upcoming discussions.
I guess the people who want to monitor internet use on work computers and work time are doing the right thing, productivity is the reason for profit and profit is how we get paid.
Its a sinister circle.

Being that it is my tax dollar that pays for the ABC in the first place, I consider you MY employee and I would also consider FARKIN.NET as part of your research area.

Have your superiors contact me to resolve this matter.

What about www.future-edge.net?

The link for the forums is still the same, & work has cracked down on people accessing messageboards because a lot of people were using work computers for internet dating! forums.farkin.net got caught up in the dragnet.

But the ABC is a non-profit organisation.;)

So did you get any dates from Farkin over the time you were able to access it? :)

hey,
at my school they have done the same sort of thing in banning gaming and email related sites, and a lot of others ebay for example. this sounds similar to what you are talking about, if this is the case you could do what me and my mates do, that is to use a proxy redirect so that you IT department cant track the url or IP address going out. here are some proxy redirects that i use:
www.unipeak.net
www.unipeak.com
www.hidemyass.com (currently down for serviceing)

hope this helps;)

i suggest you switch to researching sports articles. then ask for your workstation to get unlocked.

also, by circumventing these locks you are going to void your usage agreement (at school or work) and if you get nicked, say goodbye to computer use or even your job.

I don't know if it will work for you cos I know it doesn't work at school (comes up saying Filter rejection. Reason: Loophole. My friends thought that was hilarious)

Try http://anonymouse.org/

Go to english, and then type the URL.

Let us know if it works.

Rod, while we are talking about your work, I've always wondered if you had anything to do with the time they played The Simpsons on lateline when the miners were stuck in tassie. It was an 'example of life imitating art' according to Tony Jones, because some people were recording a song for the miners, and Lateline showed a clip from The Simpsons where the townspeople were recording a song of hope for Timmy O'tool (Who was stuck down a well, AKA as Bart's two-way radio, for those who don't remember). Tony was doing doing the 'Kerry O'brien Thursday night after Clark and Doore trying not to crack up face'. Was that you who recognised that link?

You can use proxy servers to pass through. It works as you go in the same site but under a diffrent proxy thus being undetected. Clubevan.com used to be a good one but I think that screwed up. Try guyproxy. Search for it in google, and PLEASE.. kids.. if your using it at school dont directly type the proxy site straight into the browser, a dumb kid at my school used farking too much and the library teachers snooped around and saw him and got farkin banned for chrissakes.

I was going to say something along the lines of 'well maybe you should let the man win and focus on work and be a better contributor to society blah blah blah' but it just doesn't feel right.

Fight them all the way mate. This forum has taken too much of all of our lives to give up now.

I think I'll write an irish punk song about it. Want to play 1st fiddle?

Yes, yes I do.

I kinda did. We only have a few excerpts of The Simpsons on hand (for copyright reasons) but when Lateline wanted that clip we didn't have it so we said to go to JB HiFi & buy the series, & they did. It was on sale, $19.95.

Gotta love JB.

Back on topic, thanks for the tips, I may try them if I get desperate but I kind don't want to lose my job, or get relegated back to my old position *shudder*.

What about a cheapo notebook with a wireless internet connection with iBurst or Unwired? Farkin on tap and no hang-ups with work proxy! :)
