Why do people care about lycra and body suits so much? Seems like such a trivial thing to waste your time and energy on. The bikes, the riding, the track all seem to grab my attention way before I even glance at what some one is wearing.....

I reckon if 90% of theses guy's racing the worlds had a vote they would prefer not to wear lycra. Does it really make that much difference??
I'm sure no one seen these guy's wearing lycra at club rounds when they were getting started or state or Nationals for that matter. And they would of been setting some nice times back then.
These companies come in with their dollars which is much needed for the sport but then they start to influence riders decision making. Clothing options for instance.
Not many people will say no to a chance at a world tittle so they shut up & wear whats given to them.
Then there's the sheep like you guy's bagging out some bloke who say's "Why lycra", come on. No one wears lycra at down hill for many reasons. Yeah No. 1 I reckon you look like a tool. but more practical is thick baggy clothing provides protection. just ask MotoX rider's. No lycra there even though it may improve times.
you guy's are just sheep & will be protective over your aussie hero's image. Which is quite strange and not their choice. put them in chicken feather's & I put money some of you guy's get used to the look and say, "why not chicken feathers" baa...
