Upgrades:
DMR V8 Pedals (red), will paint them a different colour.
Oury Grips
Tyres- Kenda Nevegal 2.35/2.50
Maxxis Ignitor's 2.35

Will be putting on some Avid BB7's and Avid FR5 levers by the end of the week. Will post up pictures. Also got to look for some 8 speed shifters, anybody got a decent pair? Also gotta upgrade fork, that might be done this year.

Cheers, Ben. :)

Keep the pedals red, just paint the whole frame dark red or white to match

I'm upgrading a few bits n pieces of my 05 yukon atm as well. Gone with the BB7's (waaaaaaay better than those hayes), and going to switch to 9spd - deore.

Strange seeing dmr's on that bike, but looking good!

So far i haven't had one major problem with the bike. The only problem i can point out is the brakes, but it doesn't matter, BB7's will be on it soon.

Red looks kinda funny as it has no red on the bike what so ever. Might give them a dark blue kind of colour.

Thanks. I haven't had much luck with the Hayes MX-2's. They suck quite a bit. I've gone through so many different branded pads. BBB, Koolstop etc. They all suck, even the Genuine Hayes replacement pads sucked. So i had enough of the brakes and bought some BB7's. I'm sure the bike will be happy with them on... :D

I commute on one of these :) Great fun. I used to use it for XC stuff, beat the crap outta it and it didnt break. Mines sporting a bright orange set of forks now too, goes well with the matt black paint job, not :D

Those Kenda's must be a bit weighty for XC work?

Look phat tho! :D

They do look good, though i'm not a fan of red. I got them pretty much brand new for $50, so i grabbed em.

It would be a nice commuter. In fact, it will probably be a commuter when i get my next rig which will be in a few years. In the pic, it has 2.5's front and back. I sold one of the 2.5's to my friend as i knew it would be very heavy for XC. I only use the 2.5 at the front and only for steep downhill (Mt Dandenong). Pretty heavy tyre though, i think its close to 1kg+. lol.

if your cross country-ing get rid of the V8's and chuck on some cleats will make your life a whole lot easier.

Don't paint the pedals, the paint will just rub off. You would probably have to get them anodised or something. Just sell them and get new pedals if you dont like them.

Getting cleats means getting shoes for cleats. It might happen Christmas time. Have some money to spend.

Yeah i was thinking of anodised, though is it pricey? The V8's will go eventually, i gotta save some weight... lol :p

Finally hooked up the Avid BB7's and got rid of the Hayes MX-2's. Took em for a ride yesterday up Mt Dandenong to wear em in with the big tyres. They still haven't quite got their full power yet, but a few more rides and they should be good.

All i'm waiting on now is new shifters and hook em up with Avid FR-5 levers.
Hopefully get a new fork by the end of this year, and hopefully a nice looking bashguard, don't really like the look of mine.
