Hey everyone,
I just registered myself on Farkin.net, and i recieved the email that tells you to click on the link, then put in your activation code. When the age came up (from the link), i could just proceed and am now registered. Should I keep this activation code just in case?

Cheers

Nah, should be fine........I think!

I've never kept any of the details I logged on with, I just tell my computer to remember me and all's been fine for 2 and a half years now.

The activation code is just a one off thing to ensure that you have an email address which can receive email from Farkin. The activation code was embedded into the link you clicked. You don't need to remember it.

The reason they have an activation code is so that a malicious person can't sign up their enemies to farkin, thereby ensuring that they get spammed with messages from moderators.

It's a trickledown safety precaution from high volume mailing lists.

Another thing having an activation code accomplishes is that it prevents people from signing up with fake email addresses. This
a. Allows moderators to contact people
b. Removes complete anonymity and encourages a certain degree of accountability, hopefully leading to maturity in posts.
c. Hopefully deters some fraudulent 'sellers'.
