Well as I'm solo all the time it's hard to get any pics of me or anyone else riding. So here is the next best thing - a sample of what riding around Cobar (my new home) is like.
Mostly moto trails but if it's dirt it's good enough for me :) and sometimes you just can't be picky if you live in the middle of nowhere.

Hey Pebble, that's one hellova nice looking ride you have there! Gotta love the vastness of the outback too.
These are some great pics and they deserve to be in our "Phat Snaps" section of the forums, will move them there for you now ;)

Hey thanks.
I have met one person that may be into riding, not sure if he's ventured too much off road though. Most people around here are into dirt bikes - hubby just brought one to ride to & from work & the neighbours would be keen to get me into it, I'll probably give it a go but I'd rather stick with mtb any day.
We have only been here for about a month now, so I'm sure theres at least some people into mtb here! After all Broken Hill has a mtb club now and that's even further out west (bigger town though).
Living here is great, I prefer smaller towns to big cities, and well the dirt starts at my back fence, I had the biggest smile when we first got here & I saw tracks out the back!

Is that really Cobar? I could have sworn I saw a hill in one of those pictures. Must be the look-out!

Go the red dirt!
My dad grew up somewhere in Cobar, and my grandparents lived at Parkes, so we were out there on holiday often. Not very hilly for MTB, as your pics show.

I went to Cobar afew years ago. It really is in the middle of no where but good to see there are mountain bikers making the most of the landscape all over Australia.
Where do you get the red tyres from by the way :D ???

haha i spent some years of my child hood there riding bikes. i used to ride all the time as kids do, never thought it would escalate to what it has today.
anyway, if you go to old bourke road and go up the hill and over the railway, theres a dirt road on the right that goes out to the old reservior. probably a couple of kays but as i remember there is bush with moto sigletrack all thru there. havent been there for years now but it was cool.
also at the other end of town, on the small hill behind the caltex (was a caltex 10 years ago not sure what it is now) there is more moto singletrack, but its downhill and has jumps and berms. seems i was a DHer at the age of ten and i didnt even know it. hope you find more stuff to ride for such a flat, arid land.

Thanks for the tips Sich Nich, I'll have to check it out. The Caltex, I think that's the one I live near and possibly the hill I usually ride, it goes to a tank of some sort & near there are some jumps & that. I've had a bit of a go, hard to get enough speed up on the pushy for those, but I'm just starting to dabble with jumps so my skill needs alot of work. It's further on from there where I found this track, only goes for about 8k's before hitting the wide track again & back along the powerlines to go home.
And yeah that's the track I want to find, the one going to the resevoir. The neighbour took my husband out for a ride (out to the resevoir & the good spots) with the moto, but my dear husband wouldn't tell me where it is!
I'll find it! The neighbours wife is into motorbikes as well, I'm sure shell tell me where it is. Mind you she'll probably try & rope me into riding motos with her too!
Exploring & not knowing where the trail ends is one of the best parts of mountain biking. I've been lucky to move often enough to be able to explore new areas pretty often.
I used to live in Canberra & ride my Dunlop bike up and around any local hills I was living near, and started buying MTB magazines, it just grew from there. Ahh if only I knew of all the real MTB tracks that existed back then! Wouldn't have been able to afford a real mtb back then anyway as I was still living at home :(
