So Agonizingly close!
http://spoonboy.smugmug.com/photos/91939359-L.jpg
but yet so far :/
She's nearly finished though, just a few things to fix up and/or get...
Frame: Zaskar '05 Team
Fork: Talas RL
Wheels: XTR
Brakes: XT
Levers: Deore
Cranks: XT H-tech II
Pedals: 'Beaters
For the most part, been able to build her up from odds and ends I wasn't really using/had lying around, or pilfered off the *cough*scott*cough*. Apart from the frame, the only thing I've had to buy specifically is the spacer kit, but will have to get some bits now I think...
still to do:
* Bodgy home made tensioner didn't... time for a singulator
* Chain Ring bolts are like 0.5mm too long...
* Seat post is about 2cm's too short
* Dunno how long that chain will last, it's a bit on the dodgy side I think.
Anyway... I think she looks cool ;) seems to ride alright and you can really flick her around abit, even with the chain falling off :/
...Hazzah!
Cheers

love a good Zaskar, and this is no exception. singlespeed?....hmm possible sacrilege but each to their own. :p
nah, nice build mate. so these are some of the spare's you've got lying around eh? man i've got to come around to your place some day with big pockets. ;)
are you able to post a built weight? she looks pretty darn light to me.

How do those XTR wheels hold up? With that many spokes I expect them to be a bit wobbly, but how are they IRL? At the very least they should be quite light!
Nice one Spoonboy. Just watch out falling sledgehammers eh;) , my Zaskar is now being built up as my "car" (with bob "boot") for when I move to Freo next year.
Rik is going to go bananas when he see this.Maybe, but I'm wondering where the rest of the seat and spokes went
So yeh, what's the weight... you can't post something like this without the juicy details.

Not really... I had scales in my workstand but they're now kaput after the wetness of killy. Might see what I can conjure up though.

Yes they're pretty light, about the same weight as my crossmaxes *shrug*. They seem pretty stiff, but to be honest, I havn't really used them in anger. They've actually been sitting around doing nothing since about May (part of the stuff I had lying around...) and was going to sell them before I started this project...
I few people I know are surprised I don't use them instead of my crossmaxes, so who knows, might swap 'em over...

Love those XTRs. Sexy wheels, just get some equally sexy XTR chrome cranks!

Nice. Looks really clean as an SS. I'm interested to know why you went for the heavier talas as opposed to some floats or F100's on an obviously weight shaving bike? Anyhow, looks the goods, how much does it weigh?

Ah... you obviously missed the part about buidling her up from bits I had lying around. I didn't purposely build her up as a weight weenie bike, infact, the only real serious bling there is the wheels.
*shrug*
Given I bought the frame with a pair of RS tora 302's attached, the talas's are a nicer choice ;)
Cheers
Gonz - sorry folks, still no weightage...

Ive had a brief flirtation with the idea of getting a zaskar frame, are they any good? have heard some stories about thin walling but i guess its an XC bike.
what i want to know is will it live up to being to being ridden around the local sydney SC haunts?
