Binaural

Just built up a new ride because I didn't think my garage didn't have enough bikes in there already (my housemate and I own about 7 bikes between us).

Spec:
Evil DOC frame
Pike 426 forks, run at 120mm
Mavic 721 rims built with double butted DT spokes to Hope Bulb hubs
Maxxis Larsen TT with kevlar bead (ordinary XC tubes)
Juicy 7 brakes - 8" on the front and 6" on the rear
Shimano 105 rear derailleur and SRAM Rocket shifter
Saint cranks (175mm)
Shimano XT cluster and SRAM PC990 chain
Atomlab Aircorp pedals
Truvativ boxguide
SDG saddle
Thompson seat tube
Hope bits (headset plug, bar plugs, seat clamp, rear skewer)
Oury lock-on grips
Easton EA70 Monkeybars 1.5" rise and SIC stem (soon to be changed)
Took it for a spin around North Sydney on Saturday and wound up at Homebush 4x park for a while, where it felt at home. The handling is pretty stable due to the slack head angle of the DOC, which suits a tall bloke like me. The tight rear end makes it manual reasonably easily, which is lucky since I can use all the help I can get. The build overall is pleasingly light, and I can toss it around with ease.
Problems? Well, the Atomlab pedals are exceptionally light, flat and have heaps of area but the bushings have nearly 2mm of free horizontal movement on the axle. The Larsen TT tyres are not the grippiest things ever but at least they slide in a predictable way (suddenly/constantly).
In the next week I've got some Saint brakes and a new Thompson X4 stem turning up, as well as a nice road cluster, Ultegra rear derailleur and a 36t chainring. It's pretty funky right now but I can't wait for the final parts to arrive! Big thanks to my mate Ben (bushrider on Farkin) who bought the frame from Racer's edge in Brooklyn in the USA and arranging it to be sent over. Thanks also to Matty (Cave Dweller) for his sage advice over many drunken nights talking bikes :)
