 hey guys,

I have just bought a new frame (05 Sasquatch) and i have Rock Shox pikes 409 model connected to the front end, i have been thinking of uprading and buying a brand new set of Marzocchi 66RC2X (150 mm) forks, i have been thinking of this for a while but i don't really know what to do?

i ride alot of offroad, often doing downhill, freeriding and a bit of dirt jumping lately, i am hopefully going and racing interschool down at thredbo, but i am hopefully going there for a holiday anyway i would use my bike and not hire.

can you tell me what you think, and can you give me any advice on what to do.

any help or advice would be greatly accepted:)

ooh,my bike goes hard on the dh and freeride scene, and with the adjustments and weight make it a good fork and with its 06 design they have been made to with take more poundage.though some 66's would suit your frame better then the pikes i recon.

thanks, but do you think its an upgrade, cause i have herd people who run pikes for DH on HT's?

Any way do you think that it would suit tracks like thredbo (with pikes) or should i buy the 66ers cause thay have more adjustments and go super stiff , But not "lock out" like the pikes, but can you give me more of a technical comparison.

thanks for the input, keep it coming

you can run anything on a hardtail for Dh jsut because they use it doesnt mean its better then 66's

66's will be sick for offroad stuff compared to pikes

ok here goes, every day i get dumb questions at work about pikes, they are bloody back country forks designed for bikes like the giant reign ect, my mate is a rep at rock shox also and tells me everyone who jumps them or street rides them are fools cuz they dont warrent them, there are guys like bryn atkinson using rebas and pikes for dirt jumping ect but that doesnt make them good, he is a wicked rider and is sponsered!! ie gets forks for free when they brake. get marzocchi 66 forks buddy for the things u wanna do or look at the new rock shox free ride forks, any fork that has a chromo fork slider is gonna be capable, pikes r just light long travel alloy weak ass forks that do what they are designed to do= xc riding.

p.s do not use the example that giant stp 0s use pikes cuz i have about 10 a year come back with f...d forks , yes jeff lenosky uses them but once again he is sponsered.

yeah i think it would be best to go with the 66RC2X, for one they are designed for what you ride, and the look sick in white :)
