I'd like 2 no how hard it is to get into street and which bikes to buy. I thought about getting an STP zero and the Norco 416. I was loooking for a cheap and reliable bike that wont let me down. Any sugestions would be greatly appreciated. :D

STP's are a great bike to start going into street. It is not that hard once you have got the hang of it. The STP's are great bikes to customise. Also, they are fairly versitile, and you can also use them for dirt jumping. I do dirt jumping and street on my stp, and its great. Lots of value for money with that stp zero...i want its chain guide!:D ;)

416 is awesome for street.
Maybe you could wait a bit and get the '07 250. Depends if you want SS or not.
Cro-mo frames are better than aluminuim too.

apart from being posted in the wrong section, to get into street, get on your bike, ride down your driveway, and WHAMMY! you're riding street!
Just kidding. the street riders best ally is the bunny-hop, practice this and improve on it, and it will give you the grounding to get better at street riding

well yeah as the boys said b4 , get something that is chromo like the norco 250 or there other street stuff like the ns bikes brand or eastern, stps are good for a while but u get over there long top tubes ect and the weak rear seat stays, 1 other bike to look at is the new 2007 specialized p.2 or p.2 chromo they rule and also have a decent warrenty unlike the giant.

a p.2 06 is around 2400-2600... p. bikes are reliable... easy to maintain, have hydro's personally i prefer a p.3 to a p.2 but both are pretty versatile and reliable...

any bike shop ever, seriously if it doesnt have stp's its probably not the right store for you, having said that call ahead to make sure because they might be a specialty brand bike shop, also look at kona they make some good dj bikes, dunno about street though.

Well there is a bike shop in Belrose (on Blackbutts Rd, towards the Forest Way end) but i've never been in there so am unsure what they stock, but why not just walk in and have a roll on a few different bikes.
There is Bike Addiction in Manly, who stock the likes of Kona, Giant, Cannondale, Orange and others. Check out www.bikeaddiction.com.au for info on their shop.
Cyclery Northside aren't too far away from you either. They are on the Pac Hwy in Chatswood (near the corner of the Pac Hwy and Help Street). These guys are also pretty good and stock heaps of Specialized bikes, and do have the P series MTBs.
There is also King Of The Mountain in Neutral Bay who have mostly GT's on the floor, though may now have others as they recently resized and have heaps more stock.
Ummm, Cranks Bike Shop is in North Sydney (on Alfred St). Check out www.cranksbikes.com.au. They stock Giant (STP's), Cannondale (check out the Chase bikes), Scott & others.
There is also Dee Why Cycles, but i'm not really a fan of this shop (i will leave it at that).
PM me if you have trouble finding the locations of the above shops.
Anyone else know of good bike shops on the North of Syd?
BTW regardless of whether people say one bike is better than another, the most important thing is to get out there and get your bumb on seats and find out which bike is best for you, both for fit and budget. This is the reason bike shops keep so many bikes on the shop floor.
Cheers,

Belrose Stock Norco and brodie bikes, along with a range of BMX and road bikes. They also do all of the local exclusive frames, NS, 24, Last, Duncon, Identiti.
have a look at the full range on:
http://www.belrosebicycles.com
For DJ, dont get another STP, like everyone else. Maybe have a look at some other brands.
In terms of norco, a 416 or 250 dirt (05 still available) would be a great option.
If you want to try a Norco 416, theres one built up in Belrose Bicycles you can have a roll around on
If you have a bit of cash to spend, consider buying a complete bike, and swapping the frame for a Duncon or NS frame, they would be ideal for DJ
also, word has it brodie are releasing an absolute killer street bike for 07.
Have a good look at what bike addiction have to offer as well.

Yeah i've been to belrose bicycles alot but i haven't been to cranks or Bike addiction. I like the NS suburban and the bitch. The duncon pussy looks pretty nice as well.
