Hey - so I'm new to the board but been watching this site for a while. I'm a US DH racer and recently won the Expert 30-34 men's DH NORBA title and going semi-pro next year. I'm going to Australia for 3-4 months starting in January and want to bring my bike but I don't know any riders, don't know how to get my bike around, don't know if it's worth bringing a bike, etc. Can anyone clue me in?
Should I bring my bike?
Is it easy to find people to ride with?
Thanks,
Patrick

yep bring your bike
In Adelaide your girl can do the shopping thing while you ride in the local hills. Then its a simple matter of rolling your way out of the hills into the city to meet her. Its all downhilll to your rendevous point.
But of course the deeper you go into the hills you will negate this roll into the city option. As a city we aren't as spread out geographically as other cities in Orrstraaaaliyia.

bring your bike i will ride with and hopefully learn something i wanna get in to race;)
psf cairns.....come to canberra!
we got heaps of trails and for a city with only 350,000ppl our mountainbike club has the most members of any in australia and we have 23 bike shops.
you do the math but it means we have a hell of alot of mountainbikers
So theres plenty of riders, plenty of riding and its close to thredbo (to find out what 'thredbo' is www.rawnrg.com.au)

i'll be there from mid-jan to may possibly? probably spending a lot of time on the east coast but up for anything. i really don't have any set plans yet except to hit cairns, the gold coast, do lots of biking with all the cool cats who've responded and do some surfing.
