Call my lazy, but I have a suggestion for the 'for sale' thread.

I was thinking it would be helpful and time saving to make the area a little more like the ebay cycling section.

For example, maybe you could do an advanced search in which you could enter your budget and the brand of bike/part you would like to buy.

Eg I would search:

Brand: Norco

Price range:
-max $2500
-min $2000

Location: Sydney

Condition:Used

Year model: 2003-2006

By no means am I suggesting listing fees or bidding history etc though...
Tell me what you think: good idea or stupid idea? or would you not be able to modify farkin to do this? Any other suggestions feel free to post..

Josh

Yes, but I am preety sure it would call for a whole new interface

That would require crap loads of work. I think it works great how it is. That would save you all of 5 minutes? The Mods would have to spend shedloads of time redesigning the for sale section, again...

Not to mention the system would only work if users filled out the template fully and correctly which is a big enough ask as it is for some members.

just go into the for sale area... then click search...and type in 'norco sydney' and any posts with norco and sydney will come up.... and instead of opening each post to check if its what you want... just hover over the title of the thread and u can see the first 8 or so lines of the post....which usually lets u see the brand, make, condtion, and price

happy bike hunting :)

We already have the facilities to do that - http://forums.farkin.net/search.php?searchid=986615

Besides that, the for sale forums here are better organised than any other place I've seen (bar perhaps MTBR). If you can't find what you're looking for quickly and easily here, that's almost certainly because nobody is selling it.
