View Full Version : How should my Morphine be built?

Im in the middle of purchasing a Banshee Morphine frame (i already have everything but the front end (bars, stem, fork). I was wondering what people think i should put on it.
I have a demo 8 with the white 888RC2X on it...So i was looking at gettin the white 66RC2X just for the factory look.
What does everyone else think?

i'll just say they look and ride perfect with fox talas 36's.they're more of a freeride ht but work well both ways,i would go single crowns.

i reckon you should turn it into a full dj bike, because you dont need another downhill bike thats for sure. and being the tall bastured you are you could probly use the morphine as a dj bike.

Yes definatley build it up as a Dj bike and use white gold labels.

Thats the plan, im turning it into the most indestructable dj bike ever made, nd as you say, ive got plenty of dh shit to ride already. Itll be a cross between a dj and a huck hardtail..
(im open for suggestions on how to achieve this people, so feel free to give me a little input)

A cross between a huck and DJ bike does not net you an indestructable DJ bike. You'd be better off selling the frame and choosing something less huck-specific if you're after a DJ bike.

If you mind is set on this huck/dirtjump hardtail then get some fox 36 talas? (the ones with adjustable travel) so you can have it as low as 110mm for dj and up to 150mm for freeride

i would go either the fox talas 36 or as you said marzocchi 66's, they are both awesome forks but i would personally go for the talas.
could you post up a speck list of all the other components that your running please. i want to have a look at this indestructable bike:D

well so far i only have the frame and a few parts that i'll probly be selling. My intentions are to built it up with the parts that follow(If $$ allows):
Morphine frame 66RC2X
Mag30 laced to a singlespeed hub (any sugestions?)
(maybe) atomlab trailpimp (or another mag30?)
Hayes nine's Hussefelt cranks (or Holzfeller)
Havn't decided on bars as of yet.If anyone can suggest what would improve this setup and/or make it lighter/more effective/stronger please give us your say?
I would get the holzfeller over the hussefelts cause holzfeller are so much stiffer and MTX rims over the Mag 30's as they are too heavy.

Why singlespeed? Its not like it is a street or jump bike? Would ride better for heaps of things if it had gears, just 9 should do ya. Sun MTX or Mavic 721 would be nice rims for it, strong and light. I would try pick up some 2nd hand Hayes mags before a new set of Nines. Same for the cranks too.

im trying to make it a jumper and im so sick of sh!t breaking, so i figure i may aswell.
I was thinking 721's aswell, i have them on my demo and they seem fairly strong for how light they are. I dunno about the mags, i have both hfx-nine and mags and in my personal opinion the nine's have lasted longer and do the same job (is there a weight saving?)
I'd be going 6"rotor on the back 8" on the front. And a 24" rim back and modt likely a 26" on the front.
I realise that the morphine was never intended as a specifically dj bike(but i will be doing a bit of hucking aswell).
What does everyone think of goin ss?

i'm not sure, read my signature, i already have plenty of geared bikes, im after something a little diferent. Maybe ill look into gears, but i think ss would be best, i can always buy a deraileur for it and flog the demo's wheels

come on people...Frame arrives on monday or tuesday:eek: :D . Put it this way, it will be a project bike and ill spend the time doing it up properly so i never have a problem with it. Im not saying im loaded but can i get suggestion as to how the BEST way to do this bike up would be without the restrictions of $$$.

Yea i like the ss thing. Im riding a bashee Morphine and i use it for Dj, i use ss and shermans on it. I find it does a little of everything.

What would you put on it to make it the ultimate morphine though? (it will be used like 80%dj 10%huck and 10%dh

yeah.. don't go 24/26 root. It serves no specific purpose and looks really gay.
Depending on your price range of everything i'd be looking something along the lines of:
Cranks: Saint/Diabolus/XT (if you want light but strong)
Bars: Deity (best bars ever)
Stem: Thompson X4 elite.
Wheels: Hadleys 108pt SS rear. on 721/MTX
Forks: Fox 36 Talas
Or possibly.. if you have a lot of money :) those new RS ones.. (i forget if it's totem, or argyle or something.. the 35mm stantion ones..) either way, would go down quite nicely.
My 2c. But it sounds like a very sexual bike.
and deffinately go SS. you won't wanna go back - it's the way of the future :D

if it's 80% dirt jumping i think it's be awesome to have some white dj1's on it. That would go with the white 888's as well. As for the bars and stem combo some white deity goodies would be just sweet. White is awesome.:p
It'll be sick with pretty much whatever you have on it though. I also think it'd be cool if you maybe got a fork with travel adjust whether it is the fox 36 or maybe a 66rc with TAS (don't know if they're available?).

i recon it should be built up with 2 wheels and a set of forks:) nah serious now
i recon a profile ss hub or a tuff neck
then some atomlab pimps or MTX's
cranks, hmmmm saints or profile ones, the ti spindle ones:D
then forks, i recon the new rs totems, i think from 130 to 170 or something???
not sure but thay would be sick on a morphine
i recon NPJ wonderbars would be nice then a race face diabolous or a atomlab aircorps stem
and then some juicy sevens, hope ot saints would be good for brakes
