After a collarbone break, you don't want to be on the bike 6 weeks after the break. Believe me :)

I had a go 6 weeks after the break and it still hurt like a mother.

Give it at least 10 for the collarbone, never broken a wrist, can't help you there sorry.

Rest up, and don't let dickheads at school pull your arm. You will be surprised how stupid people will be with it.

Man that really sucks.... I have just started downhill and a broken bone would really put my confidence back a few steps. Hope you get well and get back on the horse and show it who is boss.

my friend tried a 6 foot double on a huffy.
Cased and went over the bars.
Huffy has a buckled front wheel, slightly bent forks, all three chainrings squared, bars are absolutely bent and a cracked stem.
+ he was concussed, had a shattered collerbone, and a broken elbow.
After me yelling and screaming at him, I think next time he will put on helmet when he jumps:rolleyes:

hes got 13 weeks of the bike, then he needs to save for a new bike

3 weeks ago today I had a nasty fall at willoughby paddocks on the first rhythm. Nose cased it and went over, concussion, broken collarbone and a rooted thumb.

That said I'm already able to skate and stuff now and by next week i should be back to the usual just no contact sports for another month to be safe.

EDIT: just realising how silly it sounds to say I can skate but not do any contact sports, my version of skating is basically riding around as far as you can without walking, and trying to learn to olly someday.

Damn that's a nasty break if it is your scaphoid.. Make sure that you get a good physio/hand therapist!!!

I broke my radial head (forearm bone, right near the elbow joint) about 6 weeks ago... I was riding after 2 weeks... It hurt, but it's worth it!!! :D

Cumphrey is your freind, just make sure you have the bones set right before putting cumphrey(s?) on it.
Very lttle blood supply to the Scafoid so it's a slow scetchy healer. Mine cracked right through had no sign after three weeks after I put cumphry on it a couple of times. Mashed up leaves steamed and wrapped in a tea towel on it for a couple of hours. Hard with a cast on though and I don't encourage removing a cast before recomended. I did cause it was too damn hot(X mas time+QLD) so I cut the back out and tapped it on,made it easy to use cumphrey. I think you can get Cumphry pills also but talk to a natrapath or whatever. The big companies fed a shitload of it to a mouse and it got cancer so it was taken of the market but I think it's back on now. look into it though as I don't wish to be responsible for anyone else. One of it's common names is Bone knit though.

Hard luck dude!
I broke my scaphoid a couple of years back. It took about 8 months before I could put full pressure on it. but I was back on the bike after 6 weeks, really tentiave though as there was no power in that hand, did lot's of 'exercises' to get it back to strength!

Yeh bones suck! i wont the bones that wolferean (spelling??) has, it would be heaps better. Me and my mate had a shit run there for a little. In tassy i broke my wrist and he broke his leg and then once we had both heald he broke his collar bone and i broke my leg. All in all i think it was about 6 months each that we couldnt ride to full potential for, and not to mention the time it took to get skills back up etc..

bones suck!! drink more milk and take more calcium tablets!!

Thanks guys, went back to the hospital for a ct scan to confirm the x-rays. Yes it is broken, :( off to an orthopaedic (sp?) surgeon tomorrow to see what he wants to do with it. It sucks, as I really wanted to finish the Ballarat series this year. But it looks like it will be 3 from 4 races. At least there is next year right?

Sorry for grammar, left hand typing sucks too, however WORD is your friend.

Schapoid breaks are a bitch. I broke mine along with three fingers and dislocated thumb. I managed to break it into three. 10 weeks in half cast and it only got worse. Got a plate (tiny one) and one pin in it now.

Three weeks after, i became intoxicated (through no fault of my own... Ha) and attempted to drive an empty cardboard box down my house stairs.
Flipped over halfway down and guess what hand i put out to stop myself...

Rebroke two of the fingers and 25 stitches from my head V's the staircase...

I am a dumbass...

Ahhh Richard, you saw my X-ray. Mine was worse than yours. By quite a bit...
It depends how bad the break is as you said. Mine was clean snapped in two places. One where it joins to the shoulder and one about the middle.
