i recently found my liquid mainframe/s headtune about to let go (no suprises). i like this frame, and would like to have it repaired (have emailed Gripsport).

but i could also consider replacing it with something else. what i want is a nice light frame that is good for mtx racing and jumping, though im a bit of a puss at the jumps. i like the light race style frames like the GT lopes etc, and also XC frames used for 4X, like the trance, specialized enduro, nrs, etc.
a friend told me i should get away from the aluminium harsh ride and get a more forgiving crmo frame. its got me stuffed if i can think of a crmo race sorta frame off the top of my head. i like the idea though.

any suggestions? i am stumped as to what to get if i choose to replace the old girl. i loved this bike and would like to have it going again, but if a better one comes along then so be it. not really looking a price range yet, but just opening my eyes, as the range of hardtails is soo damn huge. could also consider short duallies.

cheers

Cro-mo frames are going to be too heavy for racing, but also you'll find that most of them have too street/jump specific geometry (steep angles and short chainstays are not really that good of a thing for racing). I'd steer clear of anything with sub 16" chainstays, and look for 69/70 degree headangles witha 4" fork.

The hardtail/duallie choice is tough, and obviously you'll be paying a lot more for a duallie frame capable of 4x.
