I've got flys and my mate has evolvers we both got same rims nd mine seem to have a stickier effect, but the thing that helps make the flys so good is the koolstop pads. so if you really like the evolvers you could get them and a set of koolstop pads if you dont wanna spend the money.hope it helped.....
I bought flys yesterday but havent put them on yet, so ill tell you how they go in a few days. But I've never tried evolvers or flys. As taylor-91 said, the fly comes with kool stop pads which is a pro over the evolver. Most people on ozscene seem to prefer flys etc.
So if it will cost you $85 to get evolvers with koolstops, would you spend the extra 20 for the fly?
Hopfully somebody can give him some better advice than me..:o

Odyssey pads a bloody chat, they just dont bite. Not on hazard rims, demos, and a range of rims both with an anodized and machined finished. Fuckn shit.
Koolstops on the other hand, are excellent.
So if your thinking of getting an evolver and buying koolstop pads, you might aswell get the fly. Oh and the cable splitter the fly's come with shit all over evolvers too.
Get fly.

evolvers are shit, heavy and ugly. if ur running chainstay mounted brakes get flys they have the lowest profile and dont interfear with small gearing. if u have chainstay mounts get hombres they are the best brakes ever there cheap, light, work well, look nice.
i run evolvers with koolstops. work fine, just as well as my mate who runs the flys. just gotta set them up right. evolvers, flys, hombres, techtro; just set them up right and they'll work

I have seen flys on the seat stays and they seem to work fine. I have seat stay bosses and so the arm angle was one thing I was concerned with. My mate has flys and stainlessteel rims and my tektros work better on my chrome rim.
has anyone got flys on their seat stays?
does the arm angle help or make it worse or what?

that could be because stainless steel (never heard of that kind of rim) isn't as hard as the chrome finish. Depends on how he's set them up.
My mate runs flys (chain stay) on the seat stays, and they work fine, its just they're designed for the bottom, but will still work fine for the top.

flys are awsome down low because they are so thin this allows really small gearing. they also look pretty good. they do have great pads but proper racing pads are the bomb. you just have to watch out for the screeching on chrome wheels.
Learn how to dial your brakes and a hombre will work as well as both of them, chainstay brakes and a small ratio? go the fly, no other reason... Wanna spend money? get a revenge, sealed bearings so they feel smoother for longer.. No point spending the extra money otherwise...

Yeah I rekon I'll get some hombres. I can get my tektros pretty dialed and hombres should be easier to set up anyway.
thanks everyone.

fly`s are the superior brake but odyssey are bringing out the evolver v2 which looks like it will be a whole lot better.

i had a set of flys n the springs screwd up on them so i got rid of them after awile n went to a set of evolvers n just put some of the new kool stop bmx pads on them n i reckn if u can set them up right they go just as good the only diff is that the flys are a hell of a lot lower n less bulky
