hey guys just wondering if any one has any tips on x-ups?? everytime i try one my bike goes into a flatty:mad: and i cant get my bars all the way around. any help would be great thanks.
sounds to me like your leaning in the air, just stand up straight and turn your bars arond and back as fast as you can

make sure you straighten your legs out as soon as your in the air so that you are doing the x-up in the peak of your height and have plenty of time to bring it back and land...
they are very easy once you learn them... i've found that they are easier on bmx than mtb even though i run 28" bars on my bmx and something like 24" protapers on my old mtb it is still easier on the bmx i think because less rotational weight comared to the large wheel and tire of an mtb.

You might have to cut your bars. When I try and do an X-up my bar hits my shirt and gets caught so I'm getting my bars cut down. It might help you too.

um,practice them on the ground first,it can help with your body positioning.once comfortable with them, try them in the air.for optimum x-up'ing i find having your bike leveled helpful.

Yes! i agree with Randy Rhoads, my bars are to long to do a x-up, i would look at getting them cut down, its a really bad feeling when the bar catches your shirt and u can't get it back ( happened to me:rolleyes: )

What the hell. I have never even seen you in my life so how can you agree or disagree if my bar is wide and hits my shirt. Having a smaller bar actually does make it easier to X-up.

im siding with wacko jacko.if you really, absoloutelt need your bars cut no matter what.you must have blody trials bars on your bike, and yet they can still x-up.not saying your wrong, but other youngians could miss interpret your information and cut them down so short the llok like horizontal racer bike bars.

just lean back a bit and hold your bike striaght with your legs. you should be able to do them without cuting down your bars. just practise like with anything on a bike.

I never said I "absoulutley need my bars cut down" but cutting them down a bit would make it easier for me to x-up and later on, a barspin.

all you guy's are stiffening up in the air. You must be getting scared mid way in to the jump and are getting tense. loosen up and i think u find it will stop happening.

You are holding the bars too tight. i had this problem and got one first try after i was told to have a nice loose grip an just stay fairly loose. dont tense up. also, it will be alot easier of you almost throw the bars around instead of just turning them.

If your wipping it accidently your prolly favouring one of your legs.....
Wipps can be created by putting more weight on one footpeg than the other.....
it sounds like when you go to turn your bar to take weight off of a footpeg anf that will be why its wipping......

hey guys thanks heaps for your tips and hints i've got my X-up dead perfect now and can do 'em everytime. i experimented with the different tips and stuff it turns out i was too tense in the air. so i just loosened like Nabdaddy advised and that fixed it right up so they might be whats causing you other guys to flick out too
thanks again
