Hey guys and girls. I have been riding a unicycle in the Newcastle area for about 9 months now, and recently bought a proper xc mountain unicycle, so I'm really starting to get into it.
Anyone who wants to ride or talk unicycling drop me a line.
Cheers, Brad.

hey, yeah i learnt to ride a unicycle, can bunny hop, 180 and do drops on it, but i cant ride backwards. I used my friends 20" mountain unicyle, has an alex rim and some 2.5" tyre. Fun to ride, feel like a trials expert on em.
Edit- Kinda hurts downstairs sometimes, especially doing drops if u land wrong. Try hopping around on rocks, awesom.

You say your pretty into it?
What would a beginer unicycle set me back, somehting cheap, but still burly enough for me to start some beginer stunts.
Also if you have any good ideas/designs for a homemade one, I'd love to hear it.
BTW I'm talking about 20 inch uni's, I have a 20 inch fork and wheels, if thats any help...
Thanks, sorry about the hijack.

Well, from my understanding of unicycle strength and quality "beginner stunts" is a bit of a paradox. What I'm saying is that if you got a $200 uni, it would be great to learn to ride on, and you could even start practicing hopping around on it, but the more you spend on it the longer it will last.
I remember reading somewhere that if you want to start doing tricks and drops, you should get a uni with splined cranks, much stronger.
Have a look on http://www.unicycle.au.com/ they sell everything you need and also have some info on selecting which unicycle suits.
I learned on a 20" with chromo frame and skinny tyre, was pretty rattley but did the job.
As far a homemade uni's, google it and read up. A while ago I came across several people who have made their own.

Yeah, it's bad enough on a MTB! Been there, done that!
But i'm considering a team effort for an enduro in the future.

My old high school had circus electives for Phys Ed, best class going out, all we did was hammer around on unicyles all period. That kris guy is a nutbar. Heres some more nuts on unicycles.

Yes, but with the solo can on the head you still did pretty well at the Mont solo last year.
Tell me though, rumour has it you hit up the spiral North Shore on the unicycle......any truth to this??

You can get a unicycle that can handle a bit of abuse and such of ebay for resonably cheap. Ive got 2 off there for about $20 and i love them. Most of the unicycle auctions start at $1.
happy to help

Well, you had better hurry up, before the chance is gone for good.
You know you want to........
and make sure someone takes pics, then go hit up the final gap on it.

Sammy, I think I'll leave the 4m gap to the dudes with 2 wheels, since I just read the following on unicyclist.com
"New World Record
Moritz Hahn from Bottrop/Germany has broken the Longjump World Record!
At the last weekend we had the German championchip.
Moritz jump over a distance from 2,60m.
Here you can find the results.

I have just got into mountain unicycling myself. I bought a Kris Holm 24" freeride uni a few weeks ago and have done some of the trails around the Yarra, the Lysterfield XC course and did the long & short tracks at Granton. It's a lot of fun, I've never laughed so much on a ride before.
If you are ever in Melbourne pm me if you want to go for a ride.
Cheers,
Matt

I got into it about 2 years ago, started with a cheap 20", which lasted 3 months, before getting onto an Onza 20" Trials, had a blast, and got a 3rd Uni, this time a Kris Holm 24" Freeride.
Have had so much fun on the 24 that I sold the 20". I found that while 6ft drops were relatively easy, getting up stuff is a lot harder.
Matty Manuva, I'm a Melb boy myself, how bout a ride?
A couple of pics from the SS Nationals held earlier this year.

I started unicycling when I was about ten, long before I knew what mtb was. I rode my first uni offroad a bit but it was not really strong enough for "real" muni. I started riding mtb a few years later. A couple of years ago I saw some stuff on the net about muni but it wasn't until a couple of months back I actually got a muni.
...
Sleeman - I'm up for a ride. If you have any suggestions for place/date, let us know. Next weekend's a bit busy for me but any time after that should be cool.
cheers,
Matt
