looks rather big, looks very solid though. any idea what it weighs in at?
Thats a beautiful bike but isn't it a bit understated for a Nicolai :p
How does it ride?

NICOLAI bikes can be both very understated and/or very in your face depending on the colour chosen when ordered.
The build that i have it at the moment with some heavy duty parts 14KG.
And according to mountain bike Australia with their light parts they had it at 12.8kg.
I haven't taken it for a proper ride yet.

Its an A2Z Teppenyaki from memory. PM Beno or go to http://www.cyclesolutions.com.au/

Its an FSR.
That is a really sweet ride. If I wasn't such a lard ass I'd love to have one of those frames. Oh well theres always the Helius FR.
Any particular reason for the choice of the Pikes over Floats or a TALAS? Whats the air shock like, any propedal/SPV?

Nicolai uses a fair bit of the 4 bar linkage system as well as the traditionnal single pivot with multiple linkages.
Yeah i have to admit that the pike isn't the best choice for that bike and i would have lost a considerable amount of weight with pure cross country forks but i m a big fan of the 20 mm thru axle.
As for the DT swiss rear shock i find it quite amazing i'm really surprised not to see more around as they offer a very good range of adjustments and have the lateral floating hardware which is awesome to avoid all hard lateral hit during a bad impact or a harsh riding.
The shock is bloakcable, has a main air chamber and a rebound adjuster. I was surprised with the way it worked, it seemed to be quite stiff on small bumps but once it s gone through the first inch of travel it became as smooth as butter (maybe it s just me being used to dh bikes).
From what i ve ridden (all nicolai i rode) it offered a massive amount of lateral stiffness overall.
hahaha you ll never see me with LYcra in fact if you look closely i have massive flat pedals on it (not into clips yet):) .

Whats are the pikes like for heavy trail riding, im just building up a banshee chaparral and ive just got a good deal on a set of 06 409 pikes with air turn, so hopefully they will suit it ok...
pikes are good for all round everything. to me weight isnt an issue....i just love the damping and plush factor
