View Full Version : forum titles
i think you will all agree, that the four genres of riding stated in the forum title are very different in style, and maybe there should be a 'shifting' of forum titles. I think there should be a DJ and 4X forum, because they seem to be closely similar, and then there should be a Street/Urban forum because they both are pretty much the same thing and the Street/BMX forum is confusing because it hold both types of bike and i have seen many a user post about being confused between the two. And then there should be a Trials forum by itself because there is no other form of mtbing like it
If we can get enough people, then hopefully farkin.net will change the forums around providing a more convenient and less confusing site for all us dedicated riders.
PS: I am posting this in other forums to help get more people to vote for it
cheers :D

BMX / Street (1 Viewing)
BMX Racing, Skate Parks, Street, 20inch etc
I dont see how that confusing
or arnt we able to read subtitles anymore?
The 4x scene in Aus is growing but i doubt is nerely big enough to justify its own forum.

Sorry for speaking for everyone, but I doubt there is enough people interested to create a 'trials only' forum. Its no where near as popular as downhill for example. Perhaps you should find some trials sites and use their forums if you are only interested in trials.
Also dont post this up in other forums it just clogs them up with irrelevant rubbish.

DJ and 4x similar? Are you retarded?
When was the last time you saw someone practising gates for Dj'ing?
Or going out and doing intervals on their roadie?
I mean how is Street not close to trials when you compare Dj and 4x?
it's rigodamndiculous
well then atleast change the BMX/Street one to BMX only and put the street part with the 4x/Dj/Trials one, and get rid of urban because isnt that pretty much the same thing as street?
like this??
YES EXACTLY LIKE THAT!
sorry i didnt look at it before

but whatever....

its pretty simple, really....
if you want to talk about riding street on a BMX, post in the BMX section. if you want to talk about street on a MTB, post in the other section. just use some common sense, there's always going to be some amount of overlapping...

I disagree. I find the current sub-forum headings quite confusing.
If you wish to discuss a matter related to BMX racing, BMX dirt jumping or park riding on a BMX then it appears you that are stiff out of luck. None of the current forum titles seem to accommodate such dicussion.
Equally confusing is the street title on the BMX sub-forum. I ride a 26" bicycle but the majority of my riding takes place in and around the built up urban environment, which is typically referred to as 'street' riding. If I choose to raise a subject relating to such riding I am unsure whether to post in the 4x/DJ/Urban/Trials forum or the BMX/Street forum. Both seem to suit.
Furthermore, this confusion can be easily rectified with the implementation of more specific sub-forum headings such as the ones suggested by djdom.

Yes I totally agree, not to mention that 24 thread that was put in the bmx/street section when it was half dj stuff.
The bmx/street section should be changed to only bmx, trials/street section would be much more appropriate.

Oh for God's sake.... it's all pretty clear really http://26inches.com/TheLounge/images/smiles/eusa_wall.gif (javascript:emoticon('](*,)'))
If you want to post ANYTHING about BMX... use the BMX forum. (*,)')"] ("javascript:emoticon(')
If you want to post ANYTHING about your 26" wheeled bike... use the forum that matches the riding you're talking about.
As far as I can see there is absolutely no problem with this.

Sorry Grip, but once again I have to disagree.
I hear what you’re saying, but new and/or inexperienced members are not equipped with sufficient information to interpret these sub-forum headings in the manner you have described.
Clarification of these headings is the simple and logical answer.
Andy.

Sorry, I just don't get what's so confusing about this...
Firstly, may I begin by conceding that I think it is near impossible to apply labels to all the individual disciplines of cycling. I agree that there will always be a certain amount of overlap between forum categories, but the problem I'm referring to is simply the erroneous addition of the word 'Street' in the 'BMX/Street' sub-forum heading. Members, myself included, are unsure of whether to post issues relating to mtb street riding in this sub-forum. At face value it appears to allow for BMX and Street matters.
Alternatively, I believe it is also possible to interpret the BMX/Street sub-forum as related purely to bmx street riding and no other form of bmx usage. If not, than why is the heading not worded BMX/Street/Racing/DJ...?
Solution (IMO) - Remove the word 'Street' from the BMX/Street sub-forum heading. Then all bmx issues can be posted within and all matters relating to mtb street riding can be posted under the DJ/4x/Urban/Trials heading. Easy enough I think. ;)
Andy.
yes!
but change Urban to Street in the DJ/4X/Urban/Trials forum
less confusing for new members and i think would be just plain better
