Street/Bmx riding shoes.
Comfort is no brainer, but they must also be durable, have a reasonably stiff sole and look trick at base of a skinny set of pins. :D
So what type of shoes do people wear...? Here is mine:

I got a pair of Rowney Slims. They are nice and stiff in the sole, and don't have heaps of padding like a lot of other skate shoes, so not as much shoe rub. They conform to your foot really well after you wear em for a while too!

So Naz is barefoot then...
Yeah, Lakes are good. Robust and flat pedal specific. Reasonably priced too.
I had a pair of 661 shoes a while back. Strong as hell, but a tad bulky.

I was wondering how quickly the soles of your shoes get torn up. I have had some black Globes and a lot of the sole had been ripped off after 2 weeks.

I currently wear orchid hex's. THey are dying incredibly fast. Grippy, plus scene points , but not durable.

i ride with either globe focus or osiris alter, they are both pretty grippy unlike vollys which are possibly the worst shoes to ride in....seriously never go riding in vollys. i find if your in vollys your foot bends right around the pedal. it sucks

no they get screwed from you riding unco on you moto
i ride with either my vans slip ons or my roley slims
i am getting some nike air mogans from rebel sport they look mad and
absorb shock heaps well great riding shoe
i like my vans checkered slip on but they get wrecked riding
hey me 2
they dont get that ruined i think, only the beehive pattern on the bottom gets mangled by the pedal studs but thats good becasue it forms grooves where you would usually put your feet

Where's all the hardcore barefoot bandits gone...? Everyone seems to have gone soft these days, wearing shoes pffft. :D
These look like good value:

i wear nike af 1's limited edition...not the greatest riding shoes but hey they look good and are darn comfy.

There sole is like volleys but stiff, a higher compound rubber so they stick and last ages. Plus there heaps comfy and look the job ;) .

Nothing beats a Vans waffle sole, or equivalant waffle sole.. such as ripcurl..
I've got DC's the sole has lasted ages, will def get similar ones again.
The old volleys get a work out if im just riding round to mates or something.

well you guys may be able to help me. Im looking for a good shoe that grippy and i want something similar in shape to vans slip on. Laces prefered and something with a strong sole so i cant feel the pins in my foot
Thanks
Edit* is the waffle grip on vans grippy?

slip ons are getting high rotation at hte moment.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y41/iwearmoccos/newbrake16906.jpg
and to the guy above me. if you want a shoe thats like the vans slip ons but with laces, look at any of hte vans classics. they all have the same sole. you can get eras from GP and PSC etc, my favourites are the sk8 hi's, not too sure who sells them at the moment but.

I have been wearing Kustom Detours they have been pretty sweet. Very similar to orchids and etnies. I also rotate them around and wear my Van slips which are great, but the soles are alittle too soft.

I have some DC's. They are OK. I think the main thing to look for in good riding shoes are:
1. Grip
2. Comfort (and properly sized fit..)
3. The sole of the shoe (I think this bit is most prone to wear)
Proper riding shoes tend not to have all that crappy tape stuff that rips off at the rear of the sole. The etnies ruben alcantara signature shoes look nice, and so do all the orchids (but expenisve:o )

served me well and still going strong.

I'm thinking of trying to patch them a bit 'cause a few of my pedal pins are starting to hurt a bit but I reckon I've got many rides left yet. i've got about 2 years out of them so far. very grippy and comfortable too.
I wore them on the weekend at Red Hill.
Shoes were good. Rider selection of landing points...not so good
