I agree.

I have the troy lee designs GP glove (which is the dh glove). They are comfy at first, but after a weeks or so of wearing them (I used them a lot) they began to get uncomfy and as a result I now barely ever wear them. I also had the same experience with the fox sidewinder gloves.
BUT, this could be something to do with my unusual sweaty hands:p .

Anyway, the troy lee xc gloves seem to be very comfy (my friend still wears his pair happily after about 8 months of riding). In my opinion, you don't really need the massive rubber chunks of protection that the dh gloves have to offer. Get some comfy, aerated xc gloves, they will do the job!

Hope that helped, Josh

well if your gunna buy troy lee stuff go to a motorbike shop. in mtbs people buy stuff just cause its troy lee and you pay an extra $15 for a lable and in motorbikes frankly they dont care so if you want troy lee go to motorbike shop they will be about 10 - 15 dollars cheeper there.

cheers mitch

I've had my Troy Lee XC gloves for 5yrs now. They're probably a bit stretched so could use a new pair I guess. I'll attest to the fact that they last, so are well made & also do the job - not too warm in winter but nice & cool in the summer - even Darwin temps.

Although I must say it's probably about 3yrs worth of riding done with them - had a 2yr breather while having kids:D

Been thinking about tryin Fox or something else next but I reckon I'll stick with Troy Lee - if I can find a shop that sells them!

My husband recently got a pair of Scott gloves for his dirt bike - they don't seem too bad, and appears to be a popular brand in the moto stores.

Heres a tip:

1: Go into any Bike or Motorcycle shop
2: Look at the available brands
3: Buy which ever style takes your fancy

Its as simple as that!

No point in asking anyone here about gloves, as 99% of people who purchase them do so because of how they look or the colours and design and not because someone said, this or that. Gears cranks, brakes, frames etc is a different story, but Gloves? Thats like asking what sneakers i should use.

It's ture - pretty much everyones first priority in gloves will be looks and then functionality - or more like wether they fit the profile for the rider - dh, xc etc. But I still reckon it's worth asking because at least if anything you will find out who has had "dud" experiences - because if something doesn't perform for us it will stick in our memory alot more than a product wihich has done it's job as it's supposed to.
On the other hand if you brought a piair of gloves that looked awesome and also functioned well as to their requirements I'm sure they would get a great rap.
But keep in mind like anything most people will be biased:
a. towards the most popular brands: fox, troy lee, etc
b. towards the brand of glove they currently own - unless they have had it for a while and had a bad experience

Nothing wrong with seeking some new ideas and getting an opinion on what's the go and maoinstream for gloves these days!

But billyrockcruz has a great point - you won't exactly buy a pair of gloves that you don't like the look of just because mr.x said they were really great in all aspects.

The 06 fox digit glove is on special for $30 here:

fox digits are OK...moderate, nothing more. I've had my pair for at least 6 months and at first they were ok but now they've seemed to lose a lot of the comfort

but of course it's a biased opinion

I've been using the TLD Apex gloves, and they are excellent. The palm is super tough, it's survived many falls on concrete and dirt. The carbon knuckles are flexible, but they handle impacts very well. I bought mine when I was in America, so I dont know how much they are here, but have a look.

Another vote for Troy Lee XC gloves. They may SAY XC on them, but they're brilliant for any type of riding.

Myself, and all my mates use them, and all love them!

Yeah I would have but my local moto shop pretty much only sells Scott gloves - they're good quality & that, just come up a bit higher on my wrist than I like.

Yeh i go to Bills motor cycles and they have lots of jerseys, gloves, goggles, dh shorts etc... they have the lot and they sell it alot cheaper, and most of the time have sales on. EG: I bought i green fox jersey for $30 down from $70 in there and then went to another bike shop and it was $90 for the same one. other bike shops the cheapest was $80 for the same one.

my 2 cents
