View Full Version : Farkin racing jersey

I know we'd all like to see a farkin jersey that could be purchased from the site or another distributor that we could wear proudly when racing and riding. The T shirts are great and every kid on the block wants one.
What about we get some designs for a jersey made up? We could post a template in one section of the forums and members could come up with some ideas, maybe the best design could win their jersey as a prize.
If the plan was to go ahead, admin could give guidelines (for example; colours, logo's, do's and don'ts) and provide a hi resolution image of the logo and name. Members could go nuts and come up with a great new look for Australian MTB.
Any ideas?

This may give you an idea of what I had in mind. The jersey uses the basic colours that we all see when using the website and it has adequate farkin advertising on it. On the back I've put my name and number so it is more personalised (that would have to be done by the buyer I guess).
The cuffs, under arms and collar are simple purple, the rest of the panels for the jersey are yellow. The logo and words "farkin" and "Autralian mountain biking" would all have to be screen printed for a better effect.
There is also plenty of spare room for riders to add their sponsors and any other things that need to be affixed.
Can we pleeeeeease have it? If not, I'm going to poach your logo and get some made and sell them underground........
I had two jerseys made earlier in the year that were three colours (red, black and grey) with plenty of writing on them (sponsors and name), they cost me $100 each and they are great (well, I didn't pay for them......my sponsor did!).
What do you reckon?
It could also be a great prize to give some of the junios when racing in state events. It is one of the best ways to advertise.....imagine the hype!

one thing to note - screen printing on jersey material is a bad idea. we have work shirts that are made from that style of material with our shops logo screen printed on the front and back. the screen printing can get really really hot and i've actually had it burn my back when wearing it in the sun.
that said, i like the idea and would buy one.
Dozer
20-09-2006, 09:06 AM
A black version.....
Tu Plang...I've heard the same thing with the screen printing getting hot but there is different material I think to avoid that. The bulk of riders (for DH) wear armor so it wouldn't bother them too much.

Looks like a tops idea.
Would be nice if they were available in a short sleeve version.
Would look cool though all the brand names smashed over the jersey.

logo is way to big for me. i prefer the shirt style of design. just a nice simple one across the chest rather than that big massive thing you got going there and nothing on the sleves. nice and simple.

good idea but i think make the design simple. like the farkin shirt, 2 colors + white dont have them screen printed, have them done properly and get the designs sublimated.

As long as you bring them out in chicks sizes or even mens smalls and extra smalls i would get one.
Id prefer short sleeve and darker colours. Would they have the pockets in the back of the shirt like road jerseys?

Thats looks freaken sweet!
And as for the short sleeve thing - since most people race with long sleeve, how bout sleeves with a zip just above the elbow? So that you can remove the bottoms and make them short sleeve, just as long as theres good quality zips. Although this may make things a tad expensive...

Better keep it simple to start off with, I wouldn't mind a long sleeve, just roll the selves up ;) .
I really have nothing of value to say, but I'd buy one.

I'll buy one if enough people are in to get one to bring he price down to something reasonable.
I reckon, if this idea goes ahead, Someone should make a poll to find out which people want which design, and limit it to the people who are definately goiong to buy one, having a finishing date for signup and deadline for payments... make another account to pm the names and details of people that will be buying one.
I really like Ruckus_Lord's design. Maybe change the yellow to grey :) Yellow gets durty easily, I don't like yellow, and grey is a nice neutral colour.

Its something that I've wanted to do for a long time... the main hurdle has been the initial outlay (jerseys cost alot more than shirts to make).
Perhaps we can do a pre-pay bulk buy style order. I'm not interested in trying to make any dollars on these things, I'd just like to see them made and out there.
The competition idea is really good... I think between us we should be able to come up with something we're all proud of. Keep those designs coming, though I might be able to get a pretty good prize for the winner so keep your high-res copies to yourself (untill we anounce the comp).
I'll talk to Johnny about getting the ball rolling.

Thanks Scott, I think it is a very positive way for farkin to get out and about more and it also gives us members a chance to wear something that feels like home.
I am more than happy to provide a hi res copy of the jersey template so that members can add their designs to it, maybe you could provide a hi res copy of the logo's and give some directions for colours, space, sizes, do's and don'ts etc?
You said Johnny will help, that is good because we'll know it will get done and watched closely by him.

Also, if anybody would like it, i have a vector template for a jersey on my home 'puter I could put up tonight if ya's like.
Just for a bit of a guess, I would expect the cost of a sublaminated jersey to be no less than $100, and that would probably not include a margin for Chairman of the Fark either, and i think there should be at least some, even be it small, margin for said chairperson.

the best thing about getting sponsorship is it can contribute a lot to the outlay of getting the jerseys made. for example:
back pocket logo: $500 (three logo positions: right, middle, left, $500 each)
full sleeve: $1000
....
and so on and so forth..
one other thing.. DONT get them screen printed - get them done properly where all the logos are part of the weave/material (cant think of what the process is called)

Meh, Too much effort for something with very little effect to people who don't or even do use Farkin. I think they should be sold without names/numbers on the back, if the person wants to get something printed s/he can do so later.

ohh, with school we did a smilar thing to get jerseys made up, once we had a design we got netti to professionaly make them for us, they where around $80 and we only had 30 made, we jsut have to put up with a small netti logo on the collar, its even proper micropore road jersey.
cheerz matty
I had some Jerseys made for sinister last year, we got them done by rockstar in NZ, they are fully subliminated, just don't get the ones with the cotton collar, it's clingy and it gets sweaty.
For a decent sized run (30+) your looking at about $80 plus freight, getting a custom name on the back of the jerseys was quite cheap, about $12 per name.
Rockstars jerseys are a Raglan cut and they only design restriction is that you can't run a logo or a colour change over the seam between the torso and the sleave as it might not line up all the way arround.

I think that a few different colours would be better and more people would buy them, as they can match with the rest of thier kit. Maby a Black and White, Yellow and Purple, Red a White and or a Camo.

Stop asking.

Just a quickie,
anymore thought gone into the ideas of a jersey from farkin or not. just haven't seen or heard anything lately.
also for some strange reason this thread does not actually show up on the
site problems/suggestions screen anymore, possibly another reason why nothing more has been done about it.
If by chance the moderators are still looking into the possibility of the jerseys I do apologise for being a little impatient with this reply to thread. :o
thanks for your time.
kerrin. :)
