Taking out Levers?

I have a hayes 9... and I wish to remove just the lever(the part your fingers push down on) out from the actual brake that connects to the hose.. so I can spray it.. how do I do so about this.

Will I have to bleed it if I do this?

dude u need hex keys and ur set

just undo the one that makes the lever move further/closer to the fars first... then remove the bolts holing it to the unit...and be gentle.. you dont wanna rip out the hudrolic cartridge
