(im sure theres a jargin name for it which im unaware of). is it easier to learn whilst on the move or on the spot? every time i try it on the move i get to about 110 degrees and the frount wheel slips out from under me and i eat crap. how do you pull it off? any advice? thanks.

flatland 180 your reffering to well you ride along at a fast walking pace then if you spin to the left you carve right then left quickly while pulling up hoping and throwing your hips and shoulders round and look at the direction you want to go that should help you

aha yeah on a bmx its amazing how easy it is. Just hop and spin as much as you can whilst looking over your shoulder where you want to land. I find its easier to be rolling than trying to 180 from a trackstand.

No it's not. Half cab is where you are rolling back and do a 180 out of it.
But back onto the topic. I found it easier to learn on a slightly sloped ground. rideing up teh hill then do the 180. it is more forgiving for error and gives you slightly more to to pull it off, once dialed on the slope then go to the flat.
Its all in teh movement of your body, throw your hips and swivle your upper torso in teh direction of rotation, always look where you are going. also a small swoop with the bike b4 hand can help wiht the momentum.
maybe try learning it first on a half pipe or something close
