Except for the fact that I DIDNT strip it. A friend did, plus i reckon it looks heaps good.

ah, no offence, but that is the UGLIEST stripped seat set-up i've seen on a bike. i got a kink seat because i was over the plastic seat fad. tailwhips to arse on plastic aren't fun

I have one.
No problems at all with it except when putting the links on. Don't run in now though. (brakeless)
But yes it does sag a little bit if it's too long.

My geisha is running like crap at the moment, i really need to pull it all apart, replace all the insides and use some nice phils grease to make it ultra smooth.
Or it'd be great if hte Gsport freecoaster came out next week.

Belle
25-10-2007, 09:57 AM
take the whole thing apart
take the seals of the bearings
wash in degreaser or soap
clean everything up
regrease everything
smoosh together.

i had a small mod on my geisha.
cut sponge up so it is a circle around the driver and chain
make sure the sponge is higher than the chain and that the hard
side of the sponge is on the driver side, soft side on the hub shell.
place the sponge on the driver before you put the driver in
screw driver in making sure the sponge is not going into the actual hub nor will it get caught up in the chain.
spray the bottom of the sponge with a chain spray or a light lubricant
and your done.

trust me it looks not so great but it works amaizing,
sort of like a dust cover for that big exposed bearing.

the sponge is on the driver so when your bike is moving forward the sponge is constantly greasing and cleaning the big bearing which usually dies the quickest.

my geisha had never ran as smooth without the sponge.

it also keeps your chain lubey.

if none of this has made sense say so and i will make one and get pictures.

Hey guys update,
Got the bearings for the freecoaster, what a drama to say the least! And what a fortune too, but they are lasting alot longer and seem alot smoother.
Also put the elementary stem on, snafu mobeus gyro and dragon fly twin cables with snafu lower cables on with the london mod. SWEET! So recommend the london mod, its tougher smoother and feels just like the linear slic i used to run!
Also Odyssey monolever medium lever is sweet. I love the dragon fly cable too, it uses the tension bolt on the brake lever to press it against the brake housing making for a tighter fitting as opposed to the snafu ones.
A HUGE thankyou too to Backbone Bmx for hooking me up with the lever and cable to get the giro up and running. They are the guys to talk to in Aus!
I also got some brown ruben fly grips but they are for the new bars later on in the year.
Enjoy :)

Bike looks dope. Got a weight? I'm calling ~10kg.

It weighed in at 10.6 once upon a time.

before.

new seat and post, seat tube mod, superlite chain, new Race forks, slam xlt's and the PC's.

so it had 41thermal post with shadow seat, a seat clamp, shadow half link chain, older race forks which were heavier than the new ones.standard slams and jimmy C pedals.

im sure someone can do the math, still can save a bit of weight here and there. lacing up some sevenka rims would save a bit in the rims and a heap shorter spokes, specially if i drill the rim out. then chuck some lighter folding tyres on i guess. meh.

I get about 2 months out of a set of pc's with a heap of pedal grinds. One side of my left pedal is always cactus. I live with it as I like how the pc pedals feel, even when I ran jc's it was the same.

In other news my freecoaster is royally Fed. The gap differs between a quarter crank to 4 FULL cranks!!!!!!!!!!
Back to a cassete?!? If I can't get it fixed that'll be the option. 3 piece axle back in tomorrow and a complete overhaul if that doesn't solve it.

Driving back from cbr now. A road trip just to cbr is planned already!! Amazing place and no one seems to care where u ride.

Belle

rhys !
my coaster had the exact same problem
scared the shit out of me
i took the whole thing apart and it was something to do with the thing that grips to the hub shell ... the steel insert and clutch? thing had too much grease on it and it was causing it to slip a bit but sometimes i could get more than 4 whole rotations.

so i fixed that and it rolled together all good.

you could go back to cassette until the G coaster or the Shadow Coaster come out if you cant fix it.

It's probably worth considering what you are pedal grinding on, also... Polished concrete ledges/steel coping/steel rails, or rough concrete boxes and benches? One will obviously tear the shit out of your pedals before the others even make a start.

broke the 12kg barrier! yeshh. to be honest it's only 11.990kg according to the shop scales, achieved by drilling 60g out of my front wheel, haven't touched the back yet, but plenny of stuff planned. 350g out of the back with a KHE dirt most likely, bout a hundred out with hollowbite cranks, then i'll get a Ti spindle and save another 200g.

I took my freecoaster off on Wednesday. Ive blown another inner driver bearing and one of the ball bearings in the axle isnt sticking out like it should, which is why i think im getting irregular engagement.
to solve all these issues im getting a new 3 piece axle, driver and hub bearings so its running super smooth. should be a good couple weeks before i get it all sorted as im going to be away again for the next 5 days.

I dont have a spare rear wheel, so im running my old front wheel with eastern axle adaptor nuts that i got a while back in a dans order.

overview. horrible paint job that im semi regretting already.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y41/iwearmoccos/part%202/DSCF0002-3.jpg

the rear wheel setup. scooting isnt fun.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y41/iwearmoccos/part%202/DSCF0003-2.jpg

now you can see all the wonderful detail of this great and also time consuming paint job.

nothing as yet.. im gunna be getting bigger bars, bigger are the go....(28" wide and 8" rise,)

Yeah, i need to get a grinder. Then ill grind them down.
Yeah the tyre is great. Really grippy, however on the sides of the tyre it is kinda slippery. it works great for sliders though. Give me a bit to really give the tyres a go, then ill give you a proper review.

youve probably made the right decision.
if i didnt like rolling backwards so much i'd be on a cassette hub in a second purely because of the maintenance issues with a freecoaster.
