Did you sort out your coaster problems?
yeh i did. sorry about that haha.
give us a review on the geisha lite ayy
yeh the giesha lite seems good. pretty much exactly the same as the geisha. just lighter haha.
only problem i have is that when i tighten the axle nuts it tightens the stud which also acts as a cone and tightens up my whole hub.
at first i didnt realise and i thought the stiffness was just the hub was new. but the slack was skipping and you could tell there was something not right.
so i played around with the slack and after a while i worked out it was all smooth n even slack etc until i tightened the drive side axle nut.
i now put the alen key in the axle stud and whil i tighten the nut i make sure the axle inst getting tighter.
it is super smooth and no skipping problems or anything now and im happy.

Well... She's looking a bit sad after years of sitting in the shed and not getting any love (cept when the dog decided to chew up my Tange grips and crappy seat - seat I didn't mind). But still I thought I'd post her up anyway to see if there are any old schoolers who might be interested.
Can't remember all the specs but here goes:
1981/2 Malvern Star Supermax CrMo
Araya rims
KKT Lightning pedals
Tange Seatpole
Shimano Tourney brakes (I have the front set as well)
MX2 stem
Was my pride and joy for many years as a kid. Really nice (and super light) bike. And Aussie made too!.... Anyway, not sure if anyones interested but I'd be open to offers potentially..... (better someone rides her than be a museum piece). Otherwise I might look to fixing her up myself but I got bills n little time so might take a while...

I hope I get 10 weeks off uni^^^ I don't even know. I highly reccomend a paint like Molotow Belton as opposed to something like Ironlak or Aussie Export or whatever crap they sell at Bunnings Wharehouse. Paint yo fixie while your at it! Altough Ironlak has a new formula out, I might give it a shot soon and see how it goes, the old stuff is too thick for bikes, and gives a sandy and grainy texture.

Very nice bike Hubbie, will you be running those parts on the brakeless project?
hubbie
26-05-2008, 12:51 PM
nah, the brakeless bike is a second bike, but will inherit some parts. It's a Dragonfly DFX with my old Fit forks. It'll get my fit cranks when i get wombolts, and maybe the back wheel in a couple of months. I have the majority of parts though. the rims will be purple. everything else matte black.

Sweet, although I don't quite see the point in 2 BMX's, lol. Can't wait to see it finished!
hubbie
26-05-2008, 02:06 PM
It's being built from spares, and it's so i can ride brakeless and pegless without screwing around with my good one. plus it's a spare if Bonnie or friends bikes are out of action. I can chuck both in the boot, and lend one to someone without with out a (working) bike.

Do it! yeah pantera for 50 is sweet! If it's a v1 and that cheap, then it's probably US bottom bracket, external gussets and pretty heavy, but i'm pretty sure v1's also came in spanish bb later on and were 5.8lbs which aint bad.

Haha yer, I think Ive seen you wearing one! I just assumed they made bmx parts or some such thing.
Do most manufacturers make forks with 3/8th dropouts? Or are they pretty rare? I know you can make them fit 14mm alright, but Id rather not bother.

i went down to strictly after work yesterday to get some new black pc's but these little suckers had just arrived.
Yeaaah, real nice Rhys. Ordering some mint twisteds for the toothpaste sunday I'm waitin' on. Should look o'right. Also ordering some clearies because I'm bound to get sick of the toothpaste and strip the carnt sooner or later and I don't think mint would cut the mustard on the colours I like.
i think we should all just stay with black ones, unless your street party cough cough. But i think the purple ones go alright

I went into strictly today to examine the coloured pedals, very dissapointed! imo they are trash looking, very dull....the mint was more like a lame blue, and the purple was quite dark. I was expecting more vibrant colours.
I intended to buy the mint ones, but the colour was not what I expected so I bought a set of black ones and concluded the colours were lame.

Umm, I would say they are darker, but I didn't see a Sunday there for reference.
I anticipated the pedals to look more like this colour (mint):

But in reality they look more like this colour:

Id say check em out in real life first to be sure, they didn't do it for me, but possibly I have bad taste:p

Put my odyssey plastic pedals on the fixie for a bit of fun, not so fun as they are too wide and I have hardly any clearance:o
Anyway the point of this pic is to claim that colouring in the ugly red dot on the pedals with a black marker makes them look way better.

^^^I did it as a joke man, I run clipless all the time on that bike. Anything else becomes dangerous on 46-16.
The point was to show my extreme colouring in skills of the little red dot on the pedals, but also to woo you with my fluorescent colour scheme:D
moosegoose
02-06-2008, 05:39 PM
that orange and yellow are the exact colours i want to paint my frame and wheels.
orange wheels and yellow frame. (maybe otherway round)
whered you buy the paint and what are the colours called? (if its not just orange and yellow ahha)
in other news.
i took a link out and put my halflink back in and now my wheel is 100% slammed.
only problem is i have fat tires and a tierra. oh and a tight chain.
sooo now my chain is tighter than it should be for a freecoaster and i have about 2mm tire clearance. (had to straighten out my pretty straight wheel because it was hitting the frame)
'Ross

^^^I highly reccomend you DO NOT use the paint I used, more importantly I don't think you will be able to get any. Even more importantly, it looks nothing like the pics, it is wayyyy brighter and very fluro.
The stuff I used is called 'Anchor' fluorescent paint, it took me a few weeks to find it, had to call up the distributor a few times, apparently there was only two shops in Victoria that stocked it. The paint is INCREDIBLY hard to work with, very watery and oversprays like a mofo, you will end up with paint all over the place. You also need a perfect white undercoat, or else the fluro doesn't work at all and it looks like trash.
I doubt you will be able to find the anchor stuff, but Aussie Export and White Knight (found at bunnings) both make similar 'fluro' ranges, Ive never tried them, but would expect them to perform in a similar way. Probably worth a shot if thats what you are after.
More downsides of the paint is that its incredibly sticky, even with clearcoat, and dust and dirt gets all over it very easily. Asides from all that its pretty sweet!

The bike is stock apart from the...
- Shimano DX pedals
- Silka cable
- Ruben Grips
- Absence of a gyro, F/brake and stickers.
- Now have a bent as fck lever
- And chainring is now more of a square !
