I like how you think.....Seriously the new primo rims are so good in every aspect. Light, strong and work great with brakes. Really glad i bought them.

lumberjacks, painted rim and post. (taped up all spokes etc spent ages doing it all properly. then had to leave so had to put my tire on before it was completely dry and f'd it up so its dodgy as now
chainless with a coaster makes heaps of sense.

Just the fact that flys are designed for a stronger wheel build, and because i'm pretty harsh on my wheels i thought they'd be a better option, but the whole braking thing is terrible.

Hey.
Buying myself a bmx this week and I'm stuck between the fit flow park or the colony endeavour. I'm pretty set on the fit at the moment. If it helps, I'm 6'4...
Any other suggestions are welcome.

you'll be sweet with either. should both be a 20.75" frame. Roll with that, and when you feel it appropriate, upgrade to a 21" or longer frame. you're not likely to find a complete bike with a 21" already, I've never heard of one, so go with either.

hey sam i heard you broked your leg ?
yehh broke it on sat night at slam.pretty annoying, first 2 mins and 1st time riding new bike completed did a tailwhip on some wedge to wedge stepdown and went to slow and landed and rolled my ankle realy bad and i had new shoes on as well and i for some reason did them up tighter than usual so the pressure snapped my fibula right at my ankle.they said 4-6 weeks in a cast then they will see when i can ride.
back to chains, kmc sl beats anything and just buy a halflink for like 2 dollars form your lbs or get one off someone that has a shadow chain,I didn't bother using a half link i tried and it fucked it up 3 times and then just dealt with having tight tension

my vandero 2 goes good,
its spins around without trouble,
although it seems to get loose like a normal hub would, so I take it off and turn the seal things near where the bolts go in and the loose ness goes away,
i dont know if this is me imagining or it realy tightens the bearings. id say the first lol.

my old vandero does this when you take the wheel off the cones get loose all you need to do is hand tighten them and its perfect for another month

ok but i thought only unsealed hubs had cones?
either way it tighents them
tld_06
04-08-2008, 09:43 PM
It shouldn't tighten them, might just put pressure on the internals of the bearing or something.
Looking like either getting complete wheels from strictly or ordering in seperate hubs/rims/spokes from dansies.
Choices:
Strictly - Shadow Rota rim laced to Rant V2 front wheel - $199, WTP supreme 9t RHD laced to Alex Supra - $350
Dansies: WTP Supreme Front - $115, Rear - $190 - $130US post.
Thinking of the first option as the best.

yep fly hubs are the best, wide set and the cones are push in cones so they just slide out when you take your wheel off if u want to take them out and they will only be loose if your wheels loose.works pretty good and they are the lightest hub i could find.

Pivotals arent scene dickhead, they just have (what i believe to be) many advantages over railed....If anything, an eccd is just a scene as any pivotal....
Your bike looks good though, i like it. Except they are one of the more uglier seats available...lol

yeah i agree that seat is far better then those slim ones that have those lame ass pattens on them.

i made the hubguard out of a washer that i found in one of the numerous toolboxes floating around the garage, so sorry i have no clue about what material its made of. but heres a how-to on what i did...
Materials:
washer with diameter of 50mm, about 2mm thick and 14mm bore
* steps 1-3 could be overcome by using a washer with a 10mm bore*
http://i309.photobucket.com/albums/kk363/timcomputer/IMGP0218.jpg
10mm peg adapter
thinner locknut (see in pics)
1. cut down peg adapter so it is a little more than the thickness of the washer
2. file/grind down the adapter so it is smooth, and the same thickness as washer
3. insert adapter inside washer
4. remove locknut from the side where your going to put the guard
5. slide on guard
6. secure with thinner locknut so the spacing is the same as other side
http://i309.photobucket.com/albums/kk363/timcomputer/IMGP0213.jpg
side with hubguard spacing
http://i309.photobucket.com/albums/kk363/timcomputer/IMGP0223.jpg
original locknut and opposite side spacing
http://i309.photobucket.com/albums/kk363/timcomputer/IMGP0224.jpg
side view
i havent really grinded on it yet so i will let you know how it holds up.
also i would like to add, the guard that i "made" would probably only work on cheap hubs that use a bolt and a lockring instead of having cone spacers.
i also had a go of machining some guards out of plastic breadboard and putting a metal sleeve in the centre so i could fit it to the wheel in a similar way, but i couldnt be stuffed and all i had to shape the plastic was a grinder and a few drills. they eventually turned out like glands but only cost about 2bucks for the both of them.
i hope this helps, let me know if the pics dont work or if you want better ones

I put on a 2.1" Fit FAF tyre on the rear today and there is no way it is 2.1".
Its more like 1.9". It feels great though nice and grippy...
Still keen to try a 2.25" in the rear though.
Anyone got a fly ruben or FAF 2.25" they wanna sell or swap?

Here's everything I've collected so far, all painted up matte black.
Haven't decided on pedals yet. Black magnesium Gussets or White pc's. either way, i'll end up replacing them with black pc's. Wheels will come from my subrosa (below, as Proper wheels are on the way), and will be respoked with black spokes. I'll also get the fly stem from the subrosa, and the Macneil seat, probably.
Decisions I want your opinion with are, I'm going to colour the stem in some colour, and probably paint the rims to match. My thoughts are really dark forest green, or really dark red. And, should I use the old macneil SL on the Subrosa (and get the new black kevlar SL to replace it), or get a S&M thin seat for this bike.
The Spec will be like this:
Frame: Fit Flow Park
Forks: Sunday Morning 2
Bars: Sunday Triumphs
Stem: Fly Potencia - rawed and to be re-coloured.
Grips: Animal Edwin Delarosa
Headset: TripleSix Integrated
Crankset: Fit Flow
Sprocket: Macneil Lite 30t
Chain: KMC Z510HX
Pedals: Odyssey Twisted PC (white)/Gusset Magnesiums(black)
Front Wheel: Sun Ringle Street Lite 36H on Demolition style 3/8" hub and drilled out 8mm holes on inside
Rear Wheel: Odyssey 7KA 36H on Demolition style 14mm hub + 10t driver
Tyres: 2x 2.25" Fly Campillera
Seat: Macneil SL
Seatpost: Macneil Stump

yeh a friend had 30" as a joke and it was ridiculous to ride it turned really weird.Pretty much impossible to do proper tayboes and turndowns feel like your pushing a truck and you cant get them around very much because the bars are too wide.Ill stick with my 26.5s I don't see the pint in running huge bars that limit your tricks

If you're going to start riding a Hawk, does that mean you'll start hating webvids, and never take your feet off the pedals for tricks, and only do t-whips when nobody's watching.
Wouldn't have guessed the Hawk for you, but should be good!

I'm not the hippest kid 'round here, but I'm guessing your talking about Chase Hawk himself?

Very nice, but not a fan of the forks or sprocket. Why Directors though? Everything else on it is mint, lovin' it!

sprocket matches the front fly hub.
director forks were on the wall of my shop for a while. the bikes a bit of a promo bike just to get subrosa and the new bits out there. Director forks are a smart idea, dont really care about the look but IMO they blend in fine on the subrosa

thought I'd get an updated photo on my bike for you all.
you can clearly see the effect of whiplashes on a freshly painted frame.
I put a SKAVENGER sticker on aswell.

so it seems its coming to an end for the pantera2.
lets take this time to remember the good times.
this is a few weeks after i first built it up. all i had done was trim the axles.
the asm's look TINY!
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y41/iwearmoccos/DSCN0736-1.jpg
with my bars cut down and glh front and rear. i only ran dual glh's for a short period as a glh out back felt horrible.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y41/iwearmoccos/DSCF0007r-1.jpg
the day after i had cut the brake mounts off.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y41/iwearmoccos/DSCF0002-5.jpg
freecoaster!!!!
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y41/iwearmoccos/DSCF0008-5.jpg
chrome slams made a couple of appearances throughout. my tyres got a wee bit wider as time progressed.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y41/iwearmoccos/DSCF000222221.jpg
the destruction of my freecoaster due to a one piece axle resulted in wild paint jobs.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y41/iwearmoccos/DSCF00012345.jpg
colony forks replaced my dirt forks.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y41/iwearmoccos/DSCF0001111111111.jpg

mmm, but just doing it ghetto gives you the excuse to repaint it in another funky colour when the paint is worn out.
looks sweet, that seat is sick!

Umm, I'm pretty sure i'll have the bearings (but maybe not), just need the spacers that sit on the outside between the bearings and the crank arms? I dont know ive always just called them cups or cones.
