doesnt the wedge put bulk stress on ur frame?

hubbie
14-04-2007, 11:09 PM
and add tons of weight? so puzzled

Trailst4r
14-04-2007, 11:11 PM
maybe, but i dont think that might really damage the frame .

doesn't weight much more. maybe a few gramms more but not more than a normal macneil seat and post would weight.

just wanted to do something , cause i can t ride because of beeing injured^^

doesnt the wedge put bulk stress on ur frame?

If old roadbike fork steerer tubes can handle that kind of thing, i'd say probably not...
And by the looks of his seatpost mod, i can't imagine how it would weigh enough to make much of a difference.
That's my 2 cents worth, carry on chaps!

it actually does make a difference. you dont realy need to hop at all to get on. its fun to move them realy far apart and see if you can make the gap. :)

"without getting your front wheel stuck in the gap where you've taken the grids from.

i was keen on the purple animal barends and seat clamp we have down at the shop, potentially a purple XLT stem, and even profile rear hub when i get my new rear wheel, but the reality unfortunately is that i will eventually get a new frame and could well get coloured, where the purple might not match so well. if only i could instantly exchange parts! hehehe.

I should post a pic of my boss' bike some time. sikkaz

Talking to a little mate today who's 11 and he wants to put slams on his 16" haro! His twin brother who is an absolute shredder has Smal's on his identical haro cut down a smidge under 26". Both are small for their age too! hopefully i convinced the first just to use Smals too. I'll try to get pics of their bikes and post em up soonish. they're very cool!

Nice Archi... One question: what is lathe? I've heard a few people mention it but I have no idea..

its a thing that u put the metal on it and its like a spindle n the metal spins around and you push a tool up against it and it shaves off parts of metal.if u look around in ur wood work at school they will usually have one.sorry if im bad at describing stuff

A lathe is a thing that spins horizontaly, you put what you want thinned or shaped in the holders it spins and you hold tools up to it and it acuratley makes it thinner or you can make shapes in things.

I think sombody else could explain a bit better than me, woops sombodys already did^^^

Lathe - machine tool for holding and turning metal, wood, plastic, or other material against a cutting tool to form a cylindrical product or part. It also drills, bores, polishes, grinds, makes threads, and performs other operations. Its principal parts are the headstock (attached to the bed or base of the machine), which holds one end of the material in a rotating spur; the tailstock, which holds the other end, moves along the bed, and can be clamped in position at any point; the cutting tool; and the power feed, comprising the drive and its motive parts.

NOOBARS!

here she is. now with XLT's and Edwins. Actually quite like them full width so far. Only came as 27.5" wide, but that suits me for now. Still to come soon, is rear hub re-laced to black 7ka with white spokes, re-lace front wheel as is with white spokes, and flip the stem back around. Weighed my little stock flow bars(7.25" high or so, 24.25" wide), and they came in around 950g with grips and barends, so i've actually saved weight by putting freakin slams on! haha made me laugh.

oh, pegless atm aswell, just for kicks.

haha, my bike seems to be a funny fad bike atm.
Trendy: Big bars, pegless, raw
Not Trendy: Big bars (if you actually use them for trails :p), Gyro, Trails tyres

It's like my ultimate trails weapon, but i can't ride trails well! mmm, i'm lovin it

Edit: oh and theres a kevlar Senior saddle coming through, but i'm tempted by those new Macneil SL's! not stripping my seat though sorry trailstar!

how do your brakes work on the black rim, or is that duralectra?

Stripped seats are too street for me. i actually use my seat quite a bit, and i don't think it's going to save enough weight or look good enough to justify uncomfiness and trendiness :p. I gotta decide on Senior Kevlar with shadow umbra post, or Black SL Macneil with stump. what's people's opinion? I can get them to about the same weight is there a kevlar 07 SL? i might strip a cheap seat just for kicks. hmm

rim ain't too bad when brakes are set up right, it is just a plain black one. but brakes have to be good, and the pads are best roughened up a bit. Black 7ka will be better

New product as stated above, cant wait until they come out (which sounds like december now :( ). They are bigger in diameter but can fit onto any odyssey forks. Should be fun.

Also does anyone know if the federal freecoaster will come with a 10t option? Cause i really dont want to change my sprocket.

Also does anyone know if the federal freecoaster will come with a 10t option? Cause i really dont want to change my sprocket.

You'll geht the Federal with 9,10,11 t driver. rsd and lsd.
The KHE Reverse will be available with 9 ,10, 11t drivers, rsd and lsd.

The internalls of the Geisha Street, the Federal and the Khe Reverse are the same. The only difference will be the new thru axle. So you can use pegs.
The difference between the Reverse and the Federal will only be the outer design. The Federal will have a black colour, the Reverse will have different colours.

The Reverse Hub will arrive at KHE here in Germany in June. Then they will be shipped worldwide. And it'll cost the same as the Geisha Street.
Don't know when the Federal coaster will be released, but i think it should be very soon. officially in spring07

I decided to get the normal Geisha Street, because I won't run pegs and the Geisha is the lightest of those 3 freecoasters.

This chap has had the motivation to personalise a mass produced product. Yes it's risky. Yes it'll probably make a bees dick of difference to the weight. And yes it may fail. But I'll be first to admit I don't have the energy nor passion to embark on such a task.

This chap has had the motivation to personalise a mass produced product. Yes it's risky. Yes it'll probably make a bees dick of difference to the weight. And yes it may fail. But I'll be first to admit I don't have the energy nor passion to embark on such a task.

Well done dude.

Andy.

Nah, it's cool Dave, respect for the individualness; I agree, light bikes are sooo much easier to ride, despite all of the punters saying "It's not about the bike, it's about the rider!", can pritty much right that off as complete bs, even though that would shave crap all, when you start minusing small amount of weight it can add up, and it looks good. Pretty cool you have access to a milling machine, fuck, there'd be nothing left of my frame if I had one!

official weight on my bmx = 11.27kg in its current form. still can shave a bit off with slam XLTS and macneil seat/post combo then cutting down seat tube and simply running M5 bolt into post where it has the hole cut out for it.Then chuck some standard grips on rather than the lockons. However will be putting brakes on. so it should end up around 11.3 with brakes

do you know how much easier it is to ride light bikes im not like all you guys pulling massive 360's hacking backflipthen tacking pictures of my bent cranks my cranks dont take to much abuse

i did it to look good aswell and it was done by me with my teachers assistants with a milling machine quite like eastern use

so yea.. dont make assumptions:rolleyes:

yeah i rekon it looks ace to tell the truth, ive seen it done before, but it was all the way through (complete hole!!).

sorry i wasnt having a go at you, just having a friendly laugh!

i ride stoko POS cranks, and never had a problem, so im with your there, my cranks also dont cop that much of abuse!!!..

any way keep out the good work!!! :)

heres mine... pretty happy.. so far cost me 430 dollars.. total
bought a donar bike (pretty much brand new DK general lee with few upgraded parts) .. and then bought a wtp 4season frame and skim milk bars (which feel sick, but look crap).. painted it pacific blue 'hammered metal'

hard to tell in those photos.. there of a phone.. but the paint didnt come out how i expected it to, was meant to be more crackled (if any one knows what hammered metal looks like) .. ill take a better pic, when my cam gets back from the shop!

by the way it looks pretty 'oldschool'. but its probaly the best feeling BMX i have riden, i was stoked when i hoped on it after not riding for one for like 6 months, and being able to chuck a 180 to fakie then 180 hop outs.

My coasters going great, when i first brought it i hated the 3 piece axle system
it had some movement and was hard to work with but for some reason within the next week after purchase it must have warn in and its really easy to work with.
When i tighten the axle bolts it doesn't tighten the axle piece as well which is swell!

Speaking of bars, why is it that you've all gone back to those 2 piece jobs?

everything goes in cycles and at the moment big bars are in.
in a few years time, 4 piece bars may be what its all about.
simplicity is the key at the moment, and i tend to like it that way, even though seeing tiny kids run 28inch wide bars is hilarious

yep they'd be atleast an inch higher. more potentially. 4pieces in my opinion are ugly, more likely to be heavier and also weaker, which is kinda lose/lose/lose, plus are very low, which for me means a badly bent back, the slams are far nicer on me and the 8" high gives my back a break, so thats another lose.

:p or a win perhaps...whichever way you look at it. I owned one set of 4 piece pars for 5 years and never managed to snap / bend / break / trash them... I wasnt the smoothest rider, but I wasnt overly harsh on the bike either...
Broke plenty of my bones though. :o

hey, just finished off the paint job on this today, so i thought id post it up. I originally was gonna paint it grey to black fade, but when i was buying the paint i had a random idea, british racing green, it turned out pretty sweet. Just gotta clear coat it once i find some more stickers i like. Its nothing too rad, but its getting there. Ive got some chopsticks waiting for a bottom bracket, and slambars on there, so its a start. let me know what you think.

well, after a hard crash trying a flair, my Macneil Bibi gave in. Headtube had front impact, and has been crushed in, leaving a bulge under the top tube. neither tube is straight either. Impact was so hard it busted paint off the top tube. Bike shop is seeing if i could maybe get warrenty, but doubt it coz its front impact. Guess the frame wasn't too great, i mean, a drilled out rhynolite (which i don't think is even the welded version) had no damage to it at all, but the frame tubes bent so bad, theres even paint stress going down the sidesof the bottom tube.

So now i'll probably be riding a Sunday, because no one has yet to break one..... And that will probably be Jordan's one, the green one in the picture above. its a shame coz i don't like the look of sundays too much:cool:

on the other hand, i've got the wheelset from mike from kickassbmx distribution coming soon, so thats the hard-to-find light-as-fuck Proper Magnalite hubs with Demolition Rims. Will get 7Kas though

edit: well this is it at the moment. old wethepeople 4 seasons. normal headset and US BB...yuck
trading these wheels for jordans (green sunday above) and then those odyssey wheels are sold. i get my proper magnaTi's and then i have new wheels, and i can run my MDS
