I wish the KHE tires and the plastic pedals and all those other cool things you can get for bikes over in europe were so easy to get here.
trailst4r did you have to order your things over the internet in germany?

hmmm i'd say i buy 50% at my local shop and 50% at onlineshops.
Almost every shop here can get fly, odyssey, sunday and felt because they have the same distributor like sram/rockshox.
Most Shops can get Khe over here.

the other 50% i buy at german onlineshops.
You get stuff from Wtp,Eastern, Macneil,Animal,Volume, twenty, animal for good prices.

stuff from usa (fit,s&m,metal,Profile, etc) is reaaaaaaaaaaally expensive over here: for example fit s3 frame at empire costs around 350usd. if i'd buy one in a shop here i'D have to pay around 700usd.

or profile mini hubs 250usd at empire, 450usd in shops here.

I'd never buy usa stuff here.

So we dont get every trendy stuff really easy. only odyssey, fly, etc :P
(we were the first country after usa where the lumberjacks were released^^)

They've pretty much proven themselves as one of the best tires out thanks to just about every second rider in europe and the states running them.

johnny
04-07-2007, 05:40 PM
Yeah, when I get around to it.

The post that bmx made was enough for an outright ban. I too was surprised at what he said, but he still said it and that's that. HE can always register under a different name and we may turn a blind eye to it (yes we do know when this happens), but he has to watch his mouth this time. No derogatory comments that villify minority groups and no posting childish abuse.

Yeah, I guess I've got my school holiday head on and have much less tolerance. Tell you what, I'll make it a week ban because he hasn't really done anything else to warrant an outright ban and other than that post, he seems pretty decent. If anyone has his MSN or anything, let him know that he can come back in a week.

I purchased some fish scales. 13kg. It does sound kinda heavy, but really it isnt. I could easily save a few kg with some simple changes though i dont think i will, or not consciously anyway, I'm more than happy with teh way it rides at the moment

I would like a new front wheel, but my car needs some cash put into it so that may have to wait a little while.
My geisha is running going great. THe only issue i have with it is that going fast backwards is real scary.

Trailst4r
05-07-2007, 09:46 AM
i really like your bike, but 13kg sounds heavy for a brakeless pegless bike. dont know why, but thats strange :D

edit: ok, you have heavy tires, and powerbites. but dont think that weights 2kgs compared to mine.(and i'm shure mine's below 11kg)
cant believe those 13kgs..

hmm everybódy seems to have the problem that the geisha needs some time untill it works correctly. maybe its a problem at khe.

pshhhhht: a big whole load of khe reverse rhd + white body that arrived here in germany didnt work correctly. Iwouldnt buy one of those "first generation" reverses..

Yeah it does sound heavy, it doesnt feel heavy though compared to other bikes ive ridden.
Alot of hte parts im running, there is a lighter substitute.

I could loose 10oz in switching up tyres.
7oz switching to a Ti spindle for my hollowbites.
My fork is a 2006 dirt fork that comes in at 42oz, easily lose 10oz there by switching to a fit blade or something of the a similar weight.
My bars are 32oz whereas the lumberjacks are about 28oz i believe. theres another 4oz.
So lets say thats about 30oz which is a 850gram saving.
Then there is my front wheel where i could easily cut down some weight, which a nice simple hub and another hazard lite.
My seatpost has never been cut either, theres a heap of metal hidden in the seattube!

And the cost of doing all that, including a new front wheel would be about $700AUS i think, hardly worth it really.

EDIT! should have my hands on a digital fish scale in a couple weeks, so we'll hopefully either confirm that my bike is fat or that the $13.50 fish scales are wrong!

Im planing on changing the grips because they'r obviously stuffed and most likely a new seat and also some new tires (hopefully a maxxis slick on the back and a big chucky tire on the front). fark that khe is soooo pimp, nicest complete ive ever seen, although i think it may be tad overpriced, eg take the black peral ltd, for $1800, for the extra $650 you vould get hazards built unto the ody hubs and wombolts/new cranks.

Also can someone tell me if the Mirraco/ fork is full Sanko Crmo? ( i can only see the spec listed as DB Crmo)

my new ride just painted it and whacked it together with a couple of old spares and new parts,

frame:gt fueler 05 model
fork:fit bike slow series fork with out the stickers
rims:some random front rim and a sun big city on formula back rim
cranks: cr'mo one peice cranks and a old fly 36 sprocket
and most of the other stuff is fairly just random parts.

take your brakes off and get gyro and i think i should get another spray job :p probly sky blue frame and white bars and forks looks sweet

New stuff: Geisha coaster with double butted spokes laced to my old hazard.
Brakes have been taken off again as you can see.
Feels very nice and smooth to ride :)
I am considering painting my rims the same colour as my bars and forks. How would this go on the chrome rim?
Specs on request..

Painting rims is easy and looks sick if you don't run brakes. You have to claean every bit of crap on the rim, off which took me a while. Then spray it with a few coats of primer, or the paint will flake.I did my front demo rim mat black and it hasn't chipped or flaked or scratched to the chrome so far and its been like 2-3 months,If you look closely you can see the primer around where the tire was tuff to put on but that was my silly mistake.

Hey boys. have been sniffing around this thread for ages. I am soon to make the switch to the darkside, wih a friend building me a nice 20". Hoffman rythem frame, with various bits and peices on it, I am really looking forward to it.

Wat is the frame like? Its an older model, probly 03 or 04. It has external headset or something, is this a big disadvantage?

You will soon see my beast on this thread, so keep your eyes peeled for a bmx n00b.

^ Looks so nice and simple, I was thinking about doing the same thing with my 4seasons ( having the bar and fork teal /aqua and spraying frame black)..

Yeah, I just sold my mtb forks finally so I'll probably be getting some profile lites in black, or flys, or wombolts... What do you guys reckon for cranks?

Alex_npj
24-07-2007, 09:45 AM
I had Chrome 175mm Profiles on my MTB, I found them to be great, looked nice, goodish weight, tough only once did they come loose, they NEVER creaked or what ever, Ti spindle waas so nice to.. If you get Profiles with Allen Key, make sure you have a 5.5 size blody americans

I just orderd Wombolts, in black and 180mm, I have heard alot of bad things about them eg they hread easily, and there two peice etc another thing I heard was on the side it doesn't screw up, it's rather chunky and you can hurt the inside of your ankle easily..

x
24-07-2007, 10:17 AM
I've been looking at cranks, and I think I'll get some demolition medial lites or flys.

Demolition medial lites are 26.3oz and $175 usd, with a 19mm ti spindle meaning I would need to go to the hassle of changing over bb's again..
Flys are 165 usd (10 bucks cheaper), 27.2oz and have a 22mm spindle to fit my current bb. But I've seen some issues with rust etc?

What do you guys think, the demos which are lighter, maybe stonger (?), a bit more expensive, and I have to change over bb's, or flys?

edit: it's not possible to get a hop up kit so that I can run a 19mm spindle in a 22mm bb, is it??

Sunday!
24-07-2007, 10:35 AM
Personally i would never run fly's x. Just because ive seen so many threads on bmx forum with people who have broken them, ive never run them, and i dont plan on anytime soon. The demo's look really nice, but again i havn't run them either, if your only looking at fly's and demo's then id get the demo's.
But on the other hand, i do run wombolts, wich i am really happy with, only had one small problem with the bolt loosening a while ago, but the cranks still never came loose, i think the wedge system ody use really helps this.
Now ive done the bolt up really tight and it hasn't loosened at all.
The paint on them lasts ages, and doesn't rub off from shoes very easily.
So i'd say get the demo's or get some wombolts, but stay away from fly's.

Also hows the coaster going?
edit: you also have a flat front tyre

that is completely besides the point.

So you go out a buy a new bike and then deliberately(sp) ghostie it down a road to get it scratched, good on ya.

if you're going to be worried about scratches, you shouldn't buy a bmx then.

Exactly. Also people that go all out to make their bikes look good. What do you think a theif is more likely to steal something that looks like shit or something that looks awesome.

or you can just keep your bike where it won't get stolen

I dnt care of my bike gets scratched, but im not gonna ghostie it down a road for the sake of being hardcore. Scratches will come from riding my bike, not sending it down a hill.

Dont you think?

Do you ghostie your new expensive bikes?

Oh, I misread it. I thought u meant throwing the trick until you land it, just keep going, pushing it harder, crashing etc.

Not literally throwing it, But even then its not as bad as ghostying it. At least wen you throw it you are angry from not being able to land the trick.

But im over it. Thanks for the argument/discussion!

Swapped my seat/post combo for my mates Macneil SL and Stump post, and also relaced my front wheel. Oh and drew a JC cross on the headtube. frame around seat used to be riddled with names of tricks i have to learn. got bored of that idea. pretty happy tho!

I wasn't sure whether to post this in this thread or in the ECCD seat thread where everyone seems to be posting their seats.
But, my seat is rather annoying me!
It's too wide and whenever I ride I rub my legs on the sides and end up losing lots of skin and it's ouchie!
I'd like something pretty thin but that I can sit on without my arse dying.

I'd be happy to buy a pivotal seat combo off one of you guys for fair cheap, but if possible I'd like to get something with rails so I don't have to buy a new post.

Here is my current seat:

Yeah same with me. But thats not the main reason Im getting rid of it. I just prefer pedalling backwards, then I can control my speed, and I can turn round way smoother without trying to halfcab while going like a biziollion kmh.
Plus I get to click around everyhwhere haha. Plus less maintenance.
