Well that's not a very good description. I mean, yeah lanky emo, sure. Red hair nah, you're hair is naturally more red than mine buddy.:p

Yeah I do have brakes, but I stuffed the cable up, so i just gave up and decided to run brakeless.

BTW Zac, don't worry I got jack down the road from lifecycles to build my wheels. cheers.

its not replacing the eastbeast - the east beast stays for dirt, and will get the most use still. really the BMX is for learning shit on - the progression you see on bmxes is incredible, mtbs is a bit slower..

This is my Bike. I bought it about 4-5 years ago. I havent rid it in about 9 months as i got a popped tire and couldnt be stuffed fixing it at the time. I went to the Bike store near my place and they replaced the tube for $16 and now im into bikes again lol.

I dont know what model it is (iom trying to find reviews on it on the net) but it seems pretty solid and the guy at the bike shop said i could get $200-300 for it but im not planning on selling it just yet - my mates trying to get me to buy a GIANT rincon. im still deciding what i want to do with my bike as in bmx stuff, mountain biking or road racing.

So heres some pics. I would also like to know how i could get rid of some rust around the pedals and general maintenance on the bike and pads ?

Thanks

PS. i also need a more comfortable seat (wanting to buy one :D)

Your cranks look like profile racing ones from a few years back when they first came out. scorpion made some good mtbs a few yers back they were an english company if i remember correctly...good luck with it. as far as the rust goes only thing is hit those spots up with wd40 and rub them clean with a rag and then hit them up with wd40 again.

if you wanna know why he's getting them, i'll steal his story! hahah!
Me and matt's mate put a crack through the weld under the pedal boss in his set yesterday. warrantied set will go to matt and our mate's gonna try something else. those worried, our mate is 95kg, but he is a smooth as rider, except for when he gets in a stair hucking mood (ie on saturday night). he thought he'd cracked the odyssey twisted's until he looked right and saw it was the cranks... bugger. then he kicked the whole pedal boss off.

yeh you will be safe, since its a known weakspot and a manafacture flaw the'll give warrenty no problems.

04-09-2007, 09:06 AM
yeah i think it's sorted. our Fly distributor was the one that actually convinced our mate to get the fly cranks, knowing his weight etc, so it wouldn't have been a prob warrantying. I myself will try 2pc KHE hindenburgs i think, when i can afford them :p.

04-09-2007, 01:25 PM
what colour bmx?
and does it feel better or worse than your fly?

its a 20", so its a bit shorter its black. when i go to jordan's house next, i shall use his black paint and paint my cranks black. but i find it easier to manual. and flip for two reasons, one because its short, and two because i dont have to fear it cracking:p.
i dont have the internet at the moment, im using it at TAFE. So ill post up pics when i can

Lol, you'd go out and buy a set of cranks from aus!
Or, what your meant to do is send them back to danscomp and then they can warrenty them, but it doesnt normally work.
Thats what you get for buying o/s.

Oh yeah because all of khe's other products are reliable and stuff. I bet they are the same as fly cranks but they tried to make them lighter so they used thinner tubing and shitty manufacturing and put a nice price tag on them too. Let us know how they go when you get them eh?.

sorry, are they not reliable? what is it exactly we're talking about here?

all I'm saying is i wouldn't go out and spend big bucks on khe products, all I've heard about anything they ave made is that it breaks or stuffs up or something.
Example: they have a folding tire that weighs sweet shit all but is $80 and gives you nothing but punctures and blowouts, they have the geisha hub that has worse engagement than a cassette with no pawls (it just spins). I just don't trust their stuff. $0.02

i've heard great things about KHE tyres unless you run low psi. Brendan Jones said he loved his. i thought that geisha's were some of the best freecoasters around until they released the reverse, and now that is. etc etc

Brendan Jones and the rest of the pros running them love them because they have an endless supply of them, or getting them for sweet fuck all and are probably being paid or something to say good things about them.

My KHE tyres cut 700 grams off the weight of my bike and do none of the stuff you have stated. All they do is kick a whole bunch of arse and make any trick that involves throwing the bike around twice as easy as it used to be. Haven't run anything else they make but the tyres are money.

i'll eventually try a set. what pressures you running at the moment ryan?
i wanted a smaller dirt for the back, but they only make them in 2.1. I might try dirt front and street 1.9 rear, but i'm concerned about them washing out etc. how do they handle in dusty or dirt conditions?

The street tyres handle poorly in the dust and dirt, which is why they make the dirt tyre, which I don't have, because I ride street and park on my BMX.

Size wise, they run skinny, I'm running 1.9 street rear and 1.9 park front, they're both tiny, I really should have gone the 2.1 on the front. I'm running them at high pressures, like 80-90psi rear and 60-70psi front, that's just how I roll.

That's why i said it. Hubbie basically covered my point. I just don't really think it's that grand of an idea to have a photo that's so large you can't make out what's going on. If he meant 800x600 that's a different story.

how far up? lol

Oh yeah because all of khe's other products are reliable and stuff. I bet they are the same as fly cranks but they tried to make them lighter so they used thinner tubing and shitty manufacturing and put a nice price tag on them too. Let us know how they go when you get them eh?.

KHE are an innovative company.... and completely rider owned.

Simple fact for you regarding the cranks: we have yet to see a broken pair.
Lee Kirkman, who was an AU KHE sponsered rider ( and if you have ever seen Lee ride, you will know he goes big and is a big boy) has killed many "other brands" forks and cranks...... yet he actually never went through one set of KHE cranks or forks in a 12 month riding period.... and Lee rides and trains every day.
If you actually took the time to look at the new 2 piece ones.... you would realise they are completely different to the Fly's.

The new forks and bars both have a lifetime warranty.... and are some of the lightest on the market....... So every other company thats pushing for lighter stronger products is great but KHE is not????

all I'm saying is i wouldn't go out and spend big bucks on khe products, all I've heard about anything they ave made is that it breaks or stuffs up or something.
Example: they have a folding tire that weighs sweet shit all but is $80 and gives you nothing but punctures and blowouts, they have the geisha hub that has worse engagement than a cassette with no pawls (it just spins). I just don't trust their stuff. $0.02

Hmmm... and the free-coaster is bad huh.... thats exactly why Federal has actually licienced KHE internals for their coaster.... mmm, so I guess you think the Federal is great.
As for engagement..... well thats why they have adjustable engagement.... ever tried to set one up for your own riding style or just jumped on someone elses?
If you owned one and have had issues.... ever thought to give me a call?

Brendan Jones and the rest of the pros running them love them because they have an endless supply of them, or getting them for sweet fuck all and are probably being paid or something to say good things about them.

Now the tires, ever ran them?? They only time issues will arise is if you dont use the recomended tire for the recomended purpose, and of course if you run them on low pressures. Numerous pro's are now running them.... and I can gaurantee you, its not because they are all getting paid to. ( you really think KHE could afford that)...I can use examples, but wont here..... if you want them PM me.

Over priced..... well I am not to sure about that...... hubs are totally competitive.... and somewhat cheaper that say the Federal....

Tires, ok, expensive.... but show me a cheaper way to shave that much weight off your bike for the price. I think you will be hard pressed.

Agreed.

Back to bikes, I'll probably getting a KHE dirt 2.1 tyre for the front, and chucking my odyssey path on the rear.
I'm also considering getting a new frame in a few months, possibly a white S&M stricker.

I'm about to run into some cash, hopefully, and I want to spend most, if not all of it on my bike, but I'm not sure what to get.. At the moment I'm getting new Barends and most likely new bars, but I'm not sure what else!
I should get around $400, give or take a bit..
My bike is a full stock kink transition except for Edwin's.

hubbie
07-09-2007, 09:47 PM
yeah new bars are an option. I don't know how big you are, but being fairly young, be cautious about just getting big bars for the sake of it. my mate actually put his back out running XLT's, and swapped them back out for smaller bars by advise of a physio, because they were too big and he's pretty big for a 15yr old i suppose. so don't get silly.

yeah, new quality rim on a good hub. something like an odyssey 7ka complete wheel. don't worry about the front wheel too much. maybe pedals? i don't know what the pedals are like on the kink, but are probably cheaper unsealed's. even cranks are a good option. maybe some good brakes, or cranks etc. plenty of options.

yes. 1 1/8" is standard steerer, and 10mm and 3/8" are same, not technically but for sake of naming. neither are accurate anyway.

thats right, you also find what can happen is when you order something from dans or empire that is Australian made, (colony for example) you may pay more than what you would pay over here if you brought it in your local because of the exchange rate.

Support your local scene.
