Usual start 9am rego at Dargle will have 2 busses, Introduction and intermediates will take place on "B" track, going to open "A" track for practice only. This will give some riders a chance to see what all the talk is about and some to gauge if they have improved and the "A" track is now medium not hard it will never be easy. Will post more details next week after Mtn X on week end.

brendan..... last time at pp we paid the daylicence fee (mtba members pay nothing) and i think a small fee of like 20$ for the day
its a day of learning with so pretty decent riders... so 20$ isn't that much to pay
sadly i might not be able to go to this one cause of sc exams on the next week.. but we will see
be there or be square :p

so whats the day about? learing to race?
hey buddy if it is the same as last time ,, the day will involve a couple different things pertaining to DH Riding / Racing ..
Probably start with preperation talk & set up and what not ..
Then i'm thinking Steve will split us into Groups depending
on Abillity and run sections of the track at pace and have abit
of question time for each section ..
then some top to bottoms in the arvo on the A & B tracks ..
( i love that A track - it's a pure chalenge )
We will probably have a couple of the Pylet crew there so there will be a couple of Expert / Eliet riders to bounce things off of ..
I'm sure Foxy will be there to run the girls through what a Chick can do
if there are any that turn up - she is NSW Champ Eliet Women ..
and i'm sure she could give the boyoz a few pointers at the same time ..
I'll be there for a chuckers point of view on how to crash as i seem
to excel at it - na just jokes
keep your eyes on this post as i'm sure Steve H. will have more for
us after today .

Rider Briefing
Site: Dargle Water Ski Park
Date: November 12, 2006
Track: “A” and “B”
Welcome to Downhill Push Bike Racing. This sport is dangerous! Both rider and bicycle have and will be damaged by undertaking this sport. Serious bone damage regularly occurs and some deaths have occurred overseas. Do not undertake this sport if these are issues you have problems with. Your bike will also be damaged, when you fall off your bike, which will occur, broken shocks, broken frames, destroyed wheels are common in this sport. If the bike cost $20 or $20,000 it will be damaged. If you have an accident the medical person will cut you body armour off you to address your injury. If you have a head injury the medical person may cut your helmet off. It is your choice as to how fast or how much control you have when riding down the track, oblivious dangers have been addressed with padding and catch nets, etc but the rider will make mistakes. If you next of kin does not approve of this situation do not ride in this sport. In the words of Graig Flynn “I actively discourage everyone from doing anything. Stay at home. Safety-first people.
Track Changes: Both A and B Track will be open with introduction on B track and practice for experienced riders on A.
Site Changes: No site changes.
Cost: Unfortunately with 2 busses the day will cost $35 with $15 for a day licence if needed.
Injury: WSMTB has a policy of medical assistance must be at an event. The first aid officer will be at the finish, with a radio linked to track marshals. If a rider cannot move contact an official and first aid officer will come to their aid. Riders should have any injury looked at by the first aid officer. Please do not think you do not need checking, people have left races with broken backs, not knowing they are in danger.
Darlge Water Ski Park: The Park is private property, WSMTB pays $10 per rider per day during this time the riders and spectators are covered by MTBA insurance. No riding is allowed out side race days. The day is conducted on the northern side of the valley. Please enter and leave the site slowly to reduce dust and not slide on the grass and not damage the area or people and stock.
Food: A Bar-B-Que will be available on site.
Toilets: Located on the southern side of the valley.
Transport: Busses and drivers are hired to transport riders and bikes to the start area. When loading the bikes onto the trailers make sure your bike is secure and board the bus. During the trip to the top keep watch on the bikes on the trailer just in case someone has not secured their bike properly. When loading the trailer first to the line is first to load, do not jump the que. The road to the top of the track is a single lane fire trail. Private shuttles are not allowed; you may push up the hill, with regard for riders coming down the hill. If loading a nearly or empty trailer load closest to the front or closest to the back of the bus first, this will reduce bouncing on an empty trailer which could cause a bike to come loose.
Protection: Full-face helmet approved by Australian Standards with all body covered is strongly recommended. If you helmet is damaged it is time for a replacement.
Insurance: This event is covered under the Sports Cover policy of MTBA. The policy has public liability of $20,000,000, Professional Indemnity of $1,000,000 and Death and Total Permanent Disablement of $50,000. There are no Loss of income, Student Assistance Benefit, Home Help Allowance, Parent Inconvenience Allowance, Medical Benefits or Funeral Benefits. So to put it in plain English the rider will have to be seriously injured to receive $50,000 maximum.
Spectators: Spectators are allowed but remember the riders are coming down the track very fast and have right of way. If standing in an area, stand behind a tree or have an escape route so a bike or rider may not strike you. Riders and bikes have struck spectators.
Companion animals are not permitted at Dargle Park and are dangerous around bicycle riding.
Practice: Program, Groups 1, 2 and 3, Group 1 those riders that are reasonable confident will train with Kelvin O’Connor and possibly Joanne Fox, Group 2 those riders starting downhill with Steve Humphreys and Bindi Hatcher and Group 3 those riders practicing the A or B tracks.

will group2 be able to ride the full track?
also my dad doesnt want to stay so would it be alright if he goes home? like will i ned him there?
wsmtbdhvp
07-11-2006, 08:26 PM
Yes you will be able to ride the B track but the B track will have beginners and classes on it. So you may have to stop and wait till the beginners are out of the way. This is not racing on the B track so no shouting track or rider and expecting a clear track.
Group 2 may have time to do a full run and we generally finish with a full run.
No dad does not have to stay.

did some trail grooming and rebuilding of broken bridges out at dargle yesterday, both tracks have held up well over time.... THE A LINE is open for practice/ attempts...this was, in its day, one of the most gnarly tracks. those who had the chance to ride it will know....i had one run of this track after trackwork today and , shit ,is it tech in places... with steep rock rolldowns that will rival lithgow...those of you who see this post....get your butt out there...it'll be more than worth the trip....
oh and to those who are planning on attending the intro, see you there. and don't forget your full face helmet......
peace
