DH Nationals in Canberra - Where to Stay?

Not having raced in Canberra since (1987 BMX Nationals) Hah.... where are some places to stay for the nats in January?

Is Mt. Stromlo on the South-side of the city?

Is it worth staying in the city or near the DH venue?

Being canberra the two areas you mentioned are very close to one another.. not more than ten mins in the car. Stromlo is on the southwestern side of town but there are a couple of hotels and motels in suburbs like manuka and kingston which are on the right side of the lake, and close enough to some watering holes too.
the other option is nearer the city, rydges near the lake, a few more out towards dickson and the youth hostel (YHA) in o'connor if thats your kinda thing.
belconnen may also be good (but i cant think of any places to stay there off the top of my head).
if you have transport just pick a place in the inner north or south, its all close.

stay at the crown plaza in civic, short drive to Stromlo, casino is downstairs, all the night clubs are easy walk, heaps of places to eat and it has secure parking. Binara bar (at crown) is good on Friday nights after work also!!!

Stayed in Crown casino last year for my anniversary. Nice place and close to everything. The casino itself is pretty disappointing, but their are lots of other places to go to any way.

you can stay in civic of that area no worries theres heaps of places to stay and its quick an easy to get to srtomlo from any where in canberra really or belco could be another idea but i dont know much bout that side of town.
