what is the best spot in and around sydney for a beginner to go dh'in?

I heard the search button was great! Beginner, if your happy to do abit more then flat surfaces i'd head out to oxfard falls. If you search for it you will find countless threads on it. Theres probably one on this page. But if you have a quick search heaps of threads will pop up and show you just where the best stuff is :)

you can't go by the nation here in the sutherland shire.also if you head on into phat pics and look for anything that has to do with the sutho area eg;a sutho sesh(latest pix from the area)it will give you an indication of what's on offer down these ways.:) oh and don't be threatend by the looks of these things,their are beginer lines around it all.
